That’s a very strange post. You are making very giant leaps of faith. Who said balanced diet includes something that grows only in hot climates or has to be grown and processed for months that didn’t exist at all for millions of years? So, only people who lived where fruit was available and/or grains were grown are on a balanced diet??? That seems like a very suspicious statement.

Another very suspicious statement is that carbs are necessary or necessarily beneficial, you are basically claiming that no other macro can do what carbs do, these are gigantic leaps in reasoning that you are making.

Countless people ran the experiment where they eat carbs, then don’t eat carbs then eat carbs again etc. and they feel better without them. Case closed. Why would anything else be needed to say here? Those people should eat a low carb or no carb diet. *shrug*

I'm not interested in people's anecdotal experiences explaining how they "feel". Every time I work I deal with patients that "feel" like something is wrong locally when the problem is somewhere else, people do not understand this.

I'm speaking from a biological standpoint based on how the human body functions per medical science.

Nothing I've said is a "suspicious leap", the body can and will break down at a cellular level over time if one leaves out an entire macro. Manipulate them, don't ignore them.

And no I'm not going to type out 6 paragraphs to give an overly simplified explanation as to why it happens.

My most successful diet (the leanest I got involved carbs, whereas all ones before excluded them to under 15gram a day)

Carbs dont get you fat, calories do. However.... when I eat certain carbs, I can't stop. Like I cant have the recommended serving size of pasta or rice, or just 1 potato etc. Theyre too good and i eat too much of them.

And I also bloat like a motherfukker if i eat "bad" carbs. I'm still working out what foods I can and cant handle. But basically if its sugary/processed/refined food, I will 100% bloat (sweets, chocolates, pastries etc) if I eat bread, i will bloat, if i eat french fries, I'll bloat etc.

If I eat brown rice with salmon/vegetables, I'll be fine. I can eat my bodyweight in any vegetables and I'll still have a tiny/toight waist.

I also notice the same with carbonated drinks. Even if theyre zero cal, I wont gain fat, but I will bloat for the whole day and look worse (imo). So straight water/coffee/teas are the best for me.

If I drop carbs/sodas - I look so much better even within like 3 days

Long story short:

I agree with balanced diet is needed and I'd never recommend anyone cutting outs carbs for an extended period of time (longer than 6-8 weeks or so at a time)
FOR ME: Some carbs are fine to eat and I feel like I have way more energy + it kills out cravings big time (but I just gotta look at my portion control and track it)
OTHER CARBS are the devil (sugary/refined/processed stuff) feels good literally whilst I eat it, then I regret it, instant bloat and feel tired, have no energy and if I eat like **** for extended periods, I get no work done + my skin gets bad.

The diet I am trying to do now (although its hard with everything going on ..)

Calories in vs Calories out
Protein @ around 220 grams (50% of total cals)
Fat @ 70 grams (35% of total cals)
Carbs @ 70 grams ( 15% of total cals)

Avoiding dairy, bread (gluten?), sugars and sodas.

With step count around 15,000 everyday.

Multivitamin + fish oil as supplements.
Water intake high.
Try to keep sodium intake consistent.

I so want carbs in my life and I have my diet without them, but.... why is it when I add them in I get a big gut within a few weeks? Keto diet I get super lean, carbs bf increases, even when I add in more training. What am I doing wrong guys? Please help.

For example current diet losing weight on:

1) water, spinach, cashew nuts, mixed seeds, avocado, cocoau powder, 2 scoops pea protein blended up as a smooth. Cup of blueberries.

2) water, spinach, cashew nuts, 2 scoops of pea protein blended up as a smoothie.

3) 5 whole eggs and a can of beans or chickpeas (just beans in water).

4) 2 scoops of pea protein in water.

I have this pegged at about 2000 calories.

Previously added to that I had 2 slices of German rye bread, buttered and a large portion (1kg of white potatoes, heavily buttered). The bread is very dense and high calorie, combined with the butter I can see maybe I just couldn't fit this into my macros. The potatoes though for all that (minus the butter) was around 700 calories at 200g carbs. Could it have been the butter? Surely at 6ft 2 and 215 pounds, very active I should be able to handle this kind of calorie intake? Am I broken?

The first thing that comes to mind is your sodium intake is increased, it's common in refined and processed foods.

The soda also bloats you by creating gas.

"Bloat" can be defined as water retention or gas.

Am I broken?
When you reduce carbs you're reducing water in your cells, that's why you'll appear leaner. You're not broken or crazy.

If I keep my fat intake at like 40g or below, I can eat any amount of carbs or alcohol and not gain fat.

I...have not kept it that low and have gotten fat as a result. Just corrected that and cut out alcohol to speed it up, so I should start automatically leaning out like always

Anecdotal is very important, much more so than what some bias study found when they tested people with different genetics and blood test from you and under conditions that have nothing to do with your lifestyle.

As an example, I know myself fairly well, much better than any doctor does, since they are not me... And when I eat carbs I get hungry, sleepy, bloated, my cardio sucks too, replace those calories with fat and boom! Perfect. Not rocket science, no studies or science needed. To each their own.

Ironicallya simple CBC could tell me everything I need to know about your diet and general health.. what you described in your anecdotal experience is almost certainly psycho****tic given your strong negative mindset to carbs.

Ironic how the words "medical science" seem to be stressed so much, and yet this is the dude who was mistaking facts from bio 101 in the other thread, including claiming that serotonin is derived from carbohydrates, criticized the use of the term neurotransmitter in reference to serotonin (lol), and was talking about human cells with cell walls (and then dishonestly blaming it on auto-correction).

You keep bringing this up through PM's and comments weeks and weeks later, several others got the joke in my rep comments yet you're the only one that didn't..

Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it any less true, next time you come at me bring a Doctorate/PhD, otherwise your opinion is invalid.

Take your blatant need to feel superior somewhere else kiddo.

My misunderstanding? So let me get this straight..... you are still saying serotonin is derived from carbs, and it is not a neurotransmitter? And that human cells possess cell walls?

You going to triple down on your incorrect nonsense?

This is legitimately bio 101 level stuff, fkn lol.

Instead of misunderstanding and putting words in my mouth, you should focus your energy on lifting.

Ah, yes a pathetic attempt at a personal attack for being called out for your nonsense. I'm a distance runner and couldn't be happier, and have zero desire to get big. Cute deflection attempt tho.

Your words were clear in that thread, no one is putting words in your mouth. Why not just come out and answer then?

Btw to make analogy for how silly his above post was,

body doesn't have a calorie receptor. and doesn't know what the fk a calorie is. but the food companies that started putting labels on sh*t in the 80s+ would like to convince you 100 calls of donuts is the same as 100 calls of broccoli (and you are pretty dumb if you think it is)

all body knows is macros and the affect hormones over time.

to the autists that don't get fat eating refined carbs (and who are also on juice) stfu

you aren't eating like your average fat American who is gorges on refined snacks/carbs all day every day. so their insulin is jacked 12+hrs a day. you get fat obese over time, it takes years.

you eating your oats or sweet potatos/rice once or twice a day with low refined sugar isn't close to comparable.

go eat donuts 4 times a day for a year or two and report back, that's how long it might take to start building up insulin resistance.

Huh? Calories are energy. They literally burn food and measure the amount of energy it gives off.

And yes. 100 calories from donuts is the same as 100 calories from carrots. If you want to get technical. It's a unit of measurement. What you mean is the nutrients that come with the calories are different.

I agree with you though. A calorie is a calorie (while true) is false in terms of how we all think of a calorie because we aren't just eating a plate of calories.

Aside from your spelling and grammar mistakes, that might actually be the dumbest thing I've read on this site to date.

The sheer irony of you calling people autistic when you're on a bodybuilding forum and don't even understand that a calorie is a measurement of thermal energy in which all living things expend to survive.. I'm done.

They're not "necessary". And everybody's gut biome being different, and diet adversely affecting certain conditions, the real answer is: Everybody is different.

Also, carbs are not "the energy source". Glucose is, which can be created without carbs. Some of you guys don't know what the F you're talking about and should take a back seat.

You were called out for spewing nonsense in the other thread (and questionably tripling down in this thread, as there still is no answer to the above q's). This has nothing to do with superiority, inferiority, or any of that. You can be sure I'm calling out falsehoods though where I see them. If I was posting about math and saying something ridiculous like 16 is prime, I would expect you to call me out on that, actually I'd welcome the correction.

Most normal people would just say, hey I was wrong when I said X, but yeah Y is actually correct. Called owning up. Instead all we have here is dishonesty, doubling/tripling down or whatever, and anything but. Resorting to personal attacks no less. So about that growing up...

However, it's just bloat

I used to eat a lot of processed wheat carbs like boxed pasta and breads and bagels and stuff. A few years back I made the switch to non-wheat based carbs like beans, lentils, peas, oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, rice noodles. I find myself to be less bloated and less gassy. Seriously, I was a gassy bitch before. Farts like a sewage treatment plant. Farts that would turn all the plants in and around my house yellow. Now, no more gas at all. Like never. Super regular bowels. One large turd every morning at 6:30 like clockwork.

I think there's something to be said about north american wheat and GMOs and all that schit. Anyone here have a similar experience?

Even as I type this the poo is groundhogging. BRB
