Why is culturally appropriating Native American symbolism and ancestry not ok but Vikings is completely fine? How many people from Minnesota are descendants of nordics/icelandics?

What about glorifying Pirate mascots - who helped engage in the slave trade, murdered, raped women, etc.

Interesting stuff, my opinion is not based in fact but my gut reaction to all of this was:
-No one uses Redskin as a slur, and I think it is/was 99% associated with the football team.
-A lot of attention to Native American causes was probably driven through sports teams (sadly). Won't be shocked if there isn't a loss of revenue/donation income/awareness for Native American tribes as a result of removing them from all sports imaging.

In the end, it should come down to how the Native Americans feel about it, since there is no real way to statistically quantify the reality of the situation. And when they were polled (by the liberal **** hole the Washington Post of all places) - 9 out of 10 are fine with it. To find something that 9 out of 10 people can agree about on ANYTHING is almost impossible. For this reason, I think they should not have changed it.
