Older shows:
Leave it to Beaver if you want a real look at how families were portrayed in the 50's.
Gilligan's Island was a masterpiece.
Different Strokes was one of the first to deal with racial issues.
M.A.S.H. dealt with war better than any show ever, especially as a comedy.
More "modern" ie eighties and nineties:
Cheers is still the GOAT in my opinion
Murder She Wrote
Quantum Leap
Star Trek TNG

I don't care for any sitcoms.
Me....I'll throw out Perry Mason and Columbo.
Maybe even Mission Impossible....one of the very best (if hot the best) music themes ever written.
I can enjoy some comedy so if I were to make a selection in that genre it would be The 3 Stooges/Laural And Hardy.
We purchased Perry Mason Complete and Columbo Complete CD series about 5 years ago.
We've watched 'em all....great stuff from my subjective opinion.
Back to topic...

Columbo and Mission Impossible.
There was an episode of MI from about 1966 that had a goddam flat screen tv in it. Ridiculously clever people worked on some of these shows.
