I wouldn’t just be standing there as he charges me ... yea he gets stabbed a couple inches in a not fun spot and then I retreat back and stab again.

With a light fast weapon with that kind of reach in an o-en space the size of that ring I can stab anywhere I want if he has nothing to parry with.

Solid choice as well, though I figured that was in the guns/bows category.

Side note, I absolutely would not pick a bow and I’m a pretty avid trad archery that hunts and shoots in a mobile style. Still, absolutely would not pick unless I had a backup melee weapon.

I think a pole arm isn’t the best option because there is a lot of shaft he can grab with his han (no homo), while with a rapier it’s all razor sharp steel.

You can still grab swords if your grip strength is strong. Swords only cut flesh when sliding. Pole arm is unironically the best melee weapon, so long as he is slower than you and can't grab it before you impale him, even better if you get a horse.

I don’t think that’s true. Take a very sharp knife with a thin blade (like sharp enough to cut thin paper without tearing it at all) and grab it super hard - you’re getting sliced the f up. Now imagine it’s attached to a handle and I’m on the other end yanking it away with all my force as you try to grab it as hard as you can. The blade has two edges as well.

This will -not- end well.

A few hours training with any sort of decent sized sword or shortish polearm would make a normal man a favourite to defeat him in such a contest. It doesn't matter how big you are, these weapons can deliver devastating injuries to an unarmoured man with a single blow and provide more reach than his limbs.

Back up weapon would be a dagger coated with some kind of quick-acting poison, preferably one that causes a lot of pain or paralysis.

Other obvious options would be the slingshot & flamethrower mentioned above as well as a taser.

A cattleprod would be a decent backup weapon but I'd rather not take the chance that he would fight through the shock and grab me.

EDIT

Another good weapon would be a bangstick - shotgun cartridge on a stick for killing sharks.
