Replace it with staying busy.

Focusing more on my hobbies that are impossible to do while drinking

I drink tequila exclusively now and that has pretty much made hangovers a thing of the past.

Plenty of hydration after I finish drinking, and before I fall asleep for the night.

It's all good.
This in bold. That or the 10 or so times a year nowadays that I decide I wanna get druuuuunk drunk I just make sure I don't have anything pressing to do the next day (pretty much always a Sunday so that's not a stretch from my usual Sundays.).

I had to quit drinking due to withdrawals.

I replaced it with caffeine and sugar. I started using those to make myself feel better during the alcohol withdrawal, and then I never got off them.

The problem for me was that I didn't put any effort into finding out why I was drinking in the first place, so I just ended up replacing it with other coping mechanisms.
