I know there's people with much more deeply rooted issues and obviously their external appearance isn't the most important thing for them at that moment in time.
My post was more for the general population, I don't think the majority of people suffer from a mental or physical issue enough for them to justify not giving a fuk about how they look like

I think it just a west thing tbh.
Eastern European countries and some Asian countries, looks are a huge part and sometimes even cultural, I agree with it also.

People who have lots of kids or a very busy life value others things over appearance , mothers and fathers with young kids particularly.
Then there are people who no one ever cared about so they don't put effort into appearance, after all if no one sees them , what is the point?
And of course money comes into it. Right now I'd like to dress better, but I'm better off saving money and buying cheaper clothes for the time being.
