A lot of adults are more physically and mentally ill than you're aware.

A ton of people go through their day to day life just barely holding everything together by a thread.

Of course they all need to be stronger, fix their lives and it doesn't take a lot of time or effort to avoid getting fat. But obesity, like real obesity not just dad bod, is pretty much always directly connected with mental illness and telling these people to just eat healthier is like telling a depressed person to just stop being sad. They have to solve their deeper issues before they're going to actually fix their weight or any other part of their miserable fuking lives.

Exactly. I prioritized other parts of my life(Finance) therefore i didn't give a damn about my appearance. For me everyday was black t-shift, jeans and boots. Did this for about 3 years.

I would recommend everybody do this once in their life just to see how superficial and judgemental EVERYONE around them is just based on your appearance.

I think there is a healthy middleground. One should definetely take care off oneself and try to look good. But one should obsess over it and turn into an insecure beta or be afraid because of things one cannot change.

I often think this and I think there are several different types of people

- Some people care less what they look like and more about other things which are more important to them/the people in their life. These people I can respect

- Some people are deluded and think they look great when they don't. These people I do not respect

- Some people are so far gone weight/looks wise that they have given up hope and care deeply but have become defeatist. These people I can respect if they have a lot going on that is bad in their life and feel it is kindest to leave that particular element alone. I cannot respect them if they go on to live that way for 30-40 years, never try to improve themselves and die unhappy because of it.

- Some people have accepted that they will never look great, have learned to love themselves anyway and are therefore more confident and at peace internally than people with good faces/physiques will ever be with themselves. These people I actually admire in a way

You missed the top-tier who have it all. We exist and it’s brutal how life is on easy mode for us. I will say, however, that there are so many haters out there. Been managing this my whole life - them little runts lol

You should not respect the first and final group you listed. And most are in the second group much like my much-loathed Tier 2 Intelligence people.

I used to be OCD about how I looked. SRS. Super obsessed at times.

Now I learned to be self aware of this, and realised that no matter how good compliments and attention felt, self-acceptance feels a lot better.

I don't need people to think I'm good looking to be happy, I need to view myself in a positive way.

Compliments from others and attention from others is a flimsy consolation for lack of self-acceptance/love.
