What I've noticed about anything medical is that it's like some other jobs. If your heart isn't in it, you won't make it. Yes the pay is good, but what you need to do to get it, and what you need to do day in day out, you need more than pay.

I think it’s fuking hilarious that people think that you can memorize your way through a medical degree, yet couldn’t graduate from a physics program if you wanted to.

Do you people really think that medicine is all memorization? 75% at the very minimum is using what you know + interpreting data + logic to find a diagnosis for a problem. Despite what you think, even family doctors are easily smarter than 99% of the population.

Brb 99.9% of most medical doctors days are filled performing the same nearly identical things. Also thinking humans are so fragile that one tiny mistake will kill them. Other than a brain or spinal surgeon, you can actually be pretty mediocre and not kill someone unless you are blatantly negligent, at which point you still have mandatory insurance to cover your ass. A rocket scientist and most people working on planes and subs have far riskier jobs since any minor mistake will almost certainly kill the occupant of the craft.

Someone operating a bungee jump or paragliding service also have less margin for error.

I guess its time to start training again.

most of the material that doctors run through is difficult because of the quantity of it relative to the time frame in which they're required to learn it.

the fields that require extreme intelligence to excel are math/physics/engineering, not medicine.



as far as your contention that a single mistake could ruin a doctor's life, well, they have malpractice insurance to cover that. it's not cheap.

Also I have the emotional stability of a whiny child, but I'm still better than you because I work in the medical field. Have I mentioned how hard and elite the medical field is? It's really tough, tougher than you can imagine unless you work in the medical field, which you don't and I do as I work in the medical field. So much stress.
