Take this from a medical brah. The amount of stress you go through and knowledge you are required to obtain a degree in any medical field is like nothing you've ever imagined. It is simply incomparable. With a simple mistake, which almost every single other person makes every single day, you will lose everything you have worked for, despite the fact that you are HUMAN, and that you have dedicated your entire life to helping people. The only field that I would recommend to any young man or woman is programming.

I don't give a fuk if your job is "unfulfilling". I don't give a fuk if you make less money. You will never understand the stress that any advanced medical provider (PA/NP/MD/AA/CRNA) has to deal with on a daily basis. We are expected to be perfect with minimal training and knowledge. It is absolutely ridiculous considering such a thing is simply impossible. There are only so many people in the population that have a photographic memory (VERY, VERY, VERY FEW). You are expected to perform to this level, despite being above 99.9% of humanity in intelligence. You are expected to know absolutely every single thing in your field, and make absolutely no mistakes. If you do make one, good luck at trial when you kill an already extremely sick patient despite sacrificing your entire social life, young life, professional life, and personal life for that person. No "normie" intelligent person will be able to relate to your situation, and you will be personally responsible for that mistake. You will lose your house. Your kids will possible lose their house. You will possibly lose your license to practice medicine, which you worked your entire life to obtain, because you forgot ONE, out of 100,000 (i'm not exaggerating...) facts. This is complicated by the fact that many conditions mimic each other and often you have very little time to react to such scenarios. You can't even google anything or by that time the patient will have died. Oh and good luck in court because YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO DO TO A ****ING PERSON WITH 90 IQ WHO WILL BE RUINING YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.

My friends dad came from poverty and worked his way through medical school. He quickly worked his way up to Chief of Surgery at a large hospital, all the while he still spent plenty of time with his family going on vacations, and did things like competing in Iron man triathlons and playing other sports all the time. Never heard him bitching. I'm fact he actively taught my friend about personal responsibility and common sense. It sounds like you may not be as elite tier of humanity as you think and it may just not be the field for you.

Legit every single person I know that's a doctor now besides surgeons say it isn't worth it anymore and it is infinitely more cost effective and intelligent to go the NP/PA route. Unless you go surgery it's not the move at all.

I do disagree with you though OP because the job security, pay, and flexibility still make Surgeons (anesthesiologist included), CRNAs, NPs, PAs, Nurses, and select technical positions such as ultrasound/radiology tech still top tier.

Everything else is pretty trash for the most part and doesn't justify what you put in at all.

What about the stress soldiers go through? One simple mistake and they lose everything they ever accomplished.

It’s fukkin easy and the learning is easier because it’s so easy to visualize. My dad is an electrical engineer and I admire the **** out of his work. He was the head engineer for the major energy supplier here before going into management but eventually chose to step back as head engineer because he loves it. He is retired and a contractor now so he works from home and for the first time (when I visit) I get to see his work. Massive charts, grids, algorithms, calculations. He also worked 6 days a week 14+ hrs a day when I grew up. None Of this 15 days a month in the emerg department schit.


Docs fukk up everyday. 99% of time nobody notices or cares. Fukk up and cost a company millions and people care. Kill someone? Whatever.
