Chromebook? Ehhh, I don't know if I'd be willing to go down that route. I hear ya as far as trying to save money but I don't mind paying a little extra for a little extra speed. Some of the newer Chromebooks don't look bad though.

the important thing to consider with laptops is build quality first and foremost, screen used, and cooling. generally speaking, they all use the same CPUs/GPUs, but if you get an MSI for example, that sombitch will overheat and throttle on you at the windows screen and will feel like it was build in the ****tiest chinese factory (probably is).

from my experience is term of build quality: MSI is the absolute worst, DELL XPS's are the best.

OP you need max an i5 and 8GB ram.

In terms of reliability you should look at the Surface series (Microsoft are seriously pushing these and do tremendous with honoring warranty just in case), Dell XPS and Lenovo Thinkpad. These should be the only options as everything else is a gimmick or COPE copy of these.

That being said, as a fellow WFHcell - consider a desktop computer, full keyboard and mouse and 27+inch screen. It's healthier for you and ergonomic. Ok, so to the first point...I'm currently using a MacBook Air that has those exact specs you listed....it lags with the CRM's that I use and all the tabs I have open and constant going back and forth, etc. This is primarily why I'm looking to upgrade. Movies, vids, yeah this laptop is fine for those, but it's mostly my work that I use it for.

To your last point, I do travel a bit and it may sound odd but a desktop wouldn't really work well at my place anyway, I didn't opt for a work desk to for space considerations and just use my kitchen island as my work space lol.

To your second point, the Surface....these are also something I'm intrigued by but know nothing about. I'm going to look into these hardcore. Glad you mentioned the Lenovo though...this is definitely moving up on my list. Dell....just reminds me of those old stupid commercials 'dude, you're gettin a Dell' lol. I'll look into them though and see and compare. Thanks for the recommendations!
