Misc brahs, help with new laptop selection
Hiya misc brethren....the time has come that I need a new laptop. Please help me out with what you guys think might be the best for my situation, this definitely isn't my area but I know what I need.
-Under $2000
-Must be from Best Buy (yes I know this limits things but please understand)
-Looking for a fast processor (likely i7 here)
-Looking for PC...currently own a MacBook Air and although it's overall not a bad laptop, I'd rather go back to PC)
-I don't game, but my laptop is my livelihood: I work from home so I use it all day, and also use it for leisure (movies, videos, nothing too crazy here)
This is what I'm currently thinking about: HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.3" 4K OLED Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD + 32GB Optane - Nightfall Black
I don't love that it's a 2 in 1 (touchscreen), but everything else fits the bill. I'm seeing a lot of gaming laptops that look nice but can anyone help me out here as to why these are specifically gaming laptops? Is it just a graphics thing? Could one of these feasibly be used for what I'm looking to do with it? Also, are there any brands I should stray from? I've had good luck with HP in the past which is why I am looking at one, but have also heard good things about Asus. Please halp.
Cliffs:
*need new laptop
*PC not Mac, something fast
*under $2000 from Best Buy

I have the HP Spectre 360 4K 15.6” (srs) you cant go wrong with that one. Even the 13” is good. My professor has the 13” model. It’s super fast, beautiful (with the bronze/gold on the side) and very fast. Ask me any questions. The 15” cost me over 2k

Op if you’re using this at home, why bother with a laptop? They overheat and make way too much noise under just about any load..

the downside is you are not taking full advantage of the graphics card.
Depending on what work you do, you can buy a much cheaper laptop for your needs that is under a grand.
if you wanna look at some 4k teddies go with the 4k screen for your work/leisure.
if you really want to spend 2k, build a PC instead

I did think about a desktop but a laptop does suit me better for now.Xps gets my vote

But it is a question, and I would go ryzen based system over intel nowadays any day of the week
So I'd go with a 4800H laptop(not available in bestbuy)

what were specs for mac? I have never owned one
If you want faster, you need to look at processor speed and amount of RAM. I'm not familiar with what CRM programs you are talking about, but I'm sure a better graphics card wont hurt either.
just looked up mac air, whatever u get is gonna be a lot faster dude

Your welcome brah. 14 inch screen, ryzen 4900 and a max q rtx 2060 which priorities battery life and well below your budget. It's a gaming laptop but could used for school or work. Very portable, very cool.

Would you be down to buy a Chromebook? You don't mention what you need it for. For documents, you can use Office online. Judging by the recommendations made in this thread and your responses to them, Chromebook might be way UNDER your price range lol.

I just ordered an xps13 with the 10th gen i5. I couldn't see what justified the extra money on the spectra.
I think you could save a few dollars on a Dell.

the important thing to consider with laptops is build quality first and foremost, screen used, and cooling. generally speaking, they all use the same CPUs/GPUs, but if you get an MSI for example, that sombitch will overheat and throttle on you at the windows screen and will feel like it was build in the ****tiest chinese factory (probably is).
from my experience is term of build quality: MSI is the absolute worst, DELL XPS's are the best.

Buy any laptopfrom razer
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.
