Because they are cheaper to raise and reach slaughtering stage quicker then beef.
Actually pigs aren't as gross as humans initially thought. If you raise them yourself you can literally feed them primarily vegetable scraps and they are super healthy.

Chickens are probably the most disgusting animal there is. They literally will eat poop, peck at/dead dead chickens, etc. they are just disgusting. Far worse then pigs.


Tilapia are also pretty gross and farm raised tilapia supposedly shouldn't even be eaten.
Its a different species and those aren't the one's marketing in stores. But yeah, across the South wild pigs are a huge problem.
