attendance policies are fukking stupid. I learned more from google than from hour long lectures that teach to the lowest IQ individuals. None of my higher level classes had an attendance policy, it was always the 100+ person classes where you had a clicker and people would just give their clicker to a friend so they'd get credit for attending.
People learn at different paces, I hated having to sit there and listen to people ask questions that were fukking obvious to me

U accidentally fuked up. Now own the consequences. Ur prof is teaching u responsibility. Personally, I would be more lax. You come to class if you want and get the grade u get. Attendance is bullshyt. Homework is bullshyt as well because u can just cheat. I'd make 100% of your grade difficult exams with both an in class and take home portion that is too hard for the average retard to google. And someone like you would definitely fail because you're sloppy.

All they do is slow everyone else down.Part of teaching is to provide structure and a classroom environment. I give groupwork, if a student doesn't show then the group is at a disadvantage. Less attendance is less morale for the classroom as a whole. Maybe try to be a little empathetic for your fellow classmateswho want to interact and learn(not just to get a piece of paper after 4 years) and the instructor who is trying to have an interactive and supportive learning environment.
A bad student in class is worse than no student at all. I dispute your notion that a small class destroys morale. I have taught seminars of under 5 students as well as been in a course with only 4 people and it was great.

it's not a challenge to alienate or weed out people to assuage your ego

And yes, contrary to what you might have been told, part of the purpose of university courses is to weed out people. The program must certify expert knowledge and competence in a subject. If they just let everyone through without standards, well...that's how you get a lot of the bullshyt u see today.

I'm sure you'd keep the rest on payroll.
Secondly, none of my group work ever required classroom attendance, it was mostly done outside of class.

prof was nice enough to give you two free passes for times you need it, such as missing an alarm, which you chose to use up to go on a vacation during the semester.

Agree with Wincel almost completely for once...
Grades are based on effort and aptitude, homework, papers, projects, are mainly effort based because you can fuking google 1/2 the chit, or you can pay someone to do the work.
Tests are usually bases on aptitude because at that point you either know it or not. You can't fake knowledge at that point
As a smart but not very social individual I hated those teacher pets type, the people who always went to office hours, put in a chit ton of effort to learning something that was basic to me. Calc 1/2 is a great example. So many people had no clue what was going on, but passed because they had their hand held by the professor through every lesson, meanwhile I could cram for a week and learn it all.

Ask the professor if there is anything academically you can do related to the class in order to make up for the absence.

Also, while it is trivial to pass or even ace calc 1 and 2, I would encourage you to further study both the rigorous development of calculus (taught as advanced calculus or real analysis) and the generalization to calculus on manifolds. There is a lot more conceptually going on than what you are presented in calc 1 and 2. Ever wonder what a real number truly is and what it actually means to take a limit? Ever wonder how you would do calculus and geometry in an arbitrary coordinate system or on a curved higher dimensional surface? There's more beneath the surface worth exploring...A LOT more.

From my experience the teachers pets were not the most intelligent, they were just dick suckers trying to get a good grade because they had no clue what was going on.
Idk when you went to college, or where but it kinda blows my mind that you try to act like you're so intellectually superior even tho I'm agreeing with you 100%

Absolute fking bullsht.
We already get raped by the govt caused inflated cost and now we don't even get to choose our attendance, for a class WE PAID FOR. If anything the school shouldn't get any say whatsoever if we show up or not. Just give us the test and be thankful we are taking loans to pay for this stupid sht.
Fuk the college scam
Fuk greedy college professors who are worthless pieces of sht
Fuk inflated ego professors
I have a doctorate so this isn't some tradie tirade. I will perfectly happy if my kids are tradies.

The rules intended are to protect the loaner from losing money. I'm surprised you dont understand this already. Is your doctorate in art or philosophy?
