Stopped watching too, but I wish they had made it more like World War Z, not the running, but moreso Eugene could have actually been a scientist and gone to DC. They could have met the different groups along the way, but it would show more settings than just the forest 95% of the time. Once there they could have needed to get a plane so they would fight through an airport, fly to some other city. Something like that. It just got too redundant and main characters became immune to zombies.

They follow the comics fairly closely. The ridiculous plotlines are the comic's plotlines.

Even Kirkman realized he ran out of ideas.

I still enjoy the show. The first 2 seasons were the best but what could they have done? Just 5 more seasons of running away from a few zombies? Yall would have gotten tired of that too.

Realistically at this point zombies arent even the threat anymore if you survived this long, its other groups of people that have managed to survive and go back to a early world survival of the fittest mentality. Its cool seeing that a decade prior everyone was on cell phones, driving cars, loving technology. Now they are back to using spears, having blacksmiths, using windmills like something out of the 16th century.

They jumped the shark with glenn. It's that simple. It became a try-hard show with no substance.

They single-handedly ended the zombie fad.

At some point with Negan it drug on too long and made no sense that he didn't squash everyone before they could mount an attack.

The fact that they keep going makes it tougher to keep watching. I'm on season 9 and lose interest. If I knew I only had another season maybe I'd finish it but at this point it's looking doubtful.

I was pretty invested through the first 7-8 seasons though.

Also - group would have probably done better with Shane at the lead....
Seasons 1-3 were peak, 1-2 being the best. The show went significantly downhill for me with the demise of Shane.

I think the series should have went a different direction/ended sooner.. The Eugene angle going to find a cure should have been the path IMO. I know it wouldn't have followed the comics, but still.

Shane was the best character and they killed him off. The dynamic was too good having him and Rick in the same group, once he left everyone just sucked up to Rick.

Also, Rosita is mad sexy and probably the only reason I watched past season 6/7

They should have just found some way to make Shane escape and go west where he forms his own group. He could have ran into the FTWD group every so often and work his way back into the main series in a reoccurring role.

Shane should've been dead by the end of episode 2. But the actor crushed it and they really elongated the arc on TV. I thought it was a good decision, for sure, but he HAD to die for Rick's character development. Killing Shane was him saying bye to the old world, essentially.

I gotta rewatch the show. I have no recollection of the quality and how it compares to newer seasons. I've always enjoyed pretty much every episode, but I do realize the sag started to really show during the Saviors war. It was much more epic in the comics. Still, I bet on a rewatch most of the show holds up better with no commercials and sh!t.

Once Angela Kang took over the show DID start to pick up, it's better than it was. Whisperers are a nice, creepy villain that actually improved over the comic version. Some good new characters (Magna = hnnnnnnng, love the deaf actress / character)

I started watching it because my son was into it. Binged the seasons to catch up to where he was. The first seasons were great. I stopped around season 5 or 6 same as what sounds like everyone else here.

And it was because Glenn was actually the most likeable character
