Biggest social welfare program in existence (srs)

You provide a service nobody asked for but are paying for because they are forced too. That is the opposite of free market capitalism.

And honestly I am not against it its just extremely moronic that its literally the only way for you to make it right out of high school. Some people either want nothing to do with it (and there is nothing wrong with that) or simply physically cannot do it.

Meanwhile rich people are giving their kids small loans of a million dollars to ensure they stay at the top and keep ruling over you plebs

Kid will be fine, he can work and save up and actually have a leg up in life. Can't say as much for the newly single 39 y/o used car salesman with the incel frame though LOL

I was pretty much told that if you're not going to college at 18, then you're paying us rent. It was like that for a ton of people growing up. Key word.......growing up.

You do realize if everyone joined the military all those luscious benefits/incentives would disappear and pay would drastically be reduced.

You do this all of the time, you make excuses for people and your own lot in life.

You Are Your Problem, But You Are Also Your Solution.

If you want to make excuses for why you can’t do something, then go ahead. You can pitty yourself and your situation. You can pretend you’re the only one who has ever gone through a tough time or had a tough life. You can feel sorry for yourself all you want, but feeling sorry for yourself will never get you anywhere.

Not very common at all, honestly. I grew up in a blue collar community where most people my age wanted to hurry up and get their lives started and move out ASAP after graduating high school, but it's not like their parents were kicking them out. obviously, shacking up with your girlfriend at 19 and quickly starting a family doesn't always work out well.

Suburban kids whose parents help them prepare for ACT/SAT tests, pay for college, bills while in school, internships, getting them started on a path to a comfortable life have the best shot honestly
Yes, there is something to be said about "pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps" but lettuce be real tea- it's so difficult to get ahead by yourself alone. starting your life out with an education, little to no debt, and a supportive family goes a long way

All I did was pointed out a fact that a kid who gets millions from his parents will have an incredible advantage over the rest of the population and will be able to stay in the top 1%. In American culture (right wing culture to be more exact) rich parents giving their kids money is seen as totally normal, and then that same culture encourages middle class and lower class parents to kick their kids out when they turn 18.

Now please explain how making that observation is making an excuse for people and my own lot in life (and the funny thing is you have no idea what lot in life I fall under and from which class I come from, I think if you did my posts would rustle you a lot harder than they already do lmfao)

As a responsible parent, you're actually supposed to be helping them prepare for all of the above.

Truth be told, if you're still 27-30 years old and still living at home, your parents did a **** job.

Which makes sense. But mind you, in the OP the kid isn't even out of highschool yet. Not even 18. He can get the 'job' talk from mom for sure.

But the idea of making the choices right after highschool college/military or 'kicked out of the house and go figure it out' is absurd.

18 isn't really old at all and you really don't know how **** works yet. And sadly, our parents from another generation don't really know that much either, **** gets different going into adulthood for each new generation.

You're really just setting them up for failure at that point.

If somebody is in their mid to late twenties working a dead end job and living at their parents place still. It's time for a talk.
