I keep buying HP over and over with the same fukking results. They are just garbage. Currently using an XPS 15 , i think it was rated #1 few years in a row or that may have been the XPS 13 but yea the Dell XPS line is goat

This. Bought a chitty Lenovo for $300 brand new. Exterior is chit (finish, mouse, etc.). It's been 5 years, I've taken it in the roughest conditions, still going strong.

Recently I bought a MSI GE66 Raider for gaming and editing and it is a beast

+1 for ugly Lenovos. They're basically the new *** Thinkpads, which were legendary.

Macbook Pros are also really reliable. We have about a dozen at work that are 5+ years old and they're still fine.

HP used to make a great laptop. We use the new ones at work for our Windows machines and they're absolute garbage. They break all the time.

After reading this thread most like Lenovo, but what about the gov't concerns regarding the Chinese making it and security concerns?

The longest laptop I have ever had was a Toshiba. While it’s slow compared to today’s standards, it still works 15yrs later. I have one even older stored. Other than that, I have a 7yr old MacAir that works great.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and it still runs completely fine. I abused the hell out of it in college, and now barely use it, but when I need it everything is fine. No visible damages, never needed to take it in for service, used to torrent the crap out of stuff like textbooks and music, and never needed anyone to look at it. Really fine piece of machinery if I say so myself, but to each their own. I have a work laptop now which I use most of the time, but if I ever needed to buy a new personal laptop. It would be a MacBook hands down. My sister got the new one and it's incredible. She actually just dropped it off the top bunk and smashed open screen onto tile floor (with a thin plastic case on it), and it is completely fine.

Might be better ones out there, but my MacBook was the shizz.

When I bought mine it was $2,000 brand new. My sister actually drove 5 hours away to another state to buy a MacBook because it was like $800 cheaper there for some reason.

I buy older Dell Latitude business laptops off lease and refurbish them for family and friends. They are tanks and I have had no issues with a one of them.

I have seen a few say Lenovo and they are solid as well. ASUS, I have had two and both had motherboard issues, so not the best experience with them.

lots of thinkpad crew here, im thinkpad crew too

Had my x250 for 5 years now, custom ordered with the specs I wanted, touchscreen that I use all the time. Has dual batteries, giant battery in the back, still good for many hours of battery life.

Sucks many of the newer ones have soldered on ram, you used to be able to save money if youre custom configuring it, its usually cheaper to buy your own ram and drives and use that money towards things you cant upgrade.


Only real downside is they dont have gaming GPUs and all the speakers are always on the bottom but that is most laptops now days. Would rather have speakers facing you.

macbooks have gotten worse over time. You can watch louis rossman on youtube bishing about it, he fixes them for a living and will show you the stupid chit theyve done, a lot of heatsinks not making contact and other stupid chit. Even their stupid charger connector breaks easily, common problem, you can order a stupid rubber thing on amazon that keeps it from bending too much
