Whats the most reliable laptop brand in your experience?

Because I bought a HP a year ago.
Nothing extremely powerful, Ryzen 5, 8 gig RAM, 256gb SSD, onboard graphics.
Performance wise it is excellent for what I need it for, but RELIABILITY has been absolute trash. In the space of 12 months it has been sent off for repair 3 times:

1. It would instantly shut off when picked up sometimes. Found to be a loose connection inside it somewhere.
2. USB board faulty. So if you just lightly touched whatever was plugged into the USB port it would lose connection, they replaced the USB module on the motherboard.
3. Fan failed. Caused overheating.

Absolute pile of chit. I need it for work and when it gets sent for repair it usually takes 2 weeks before I get it back. I'm willing to pay more for something which I know can handle basic laptop duties without chitting itself ffs.

Fuking lmao @ HP.

If you want reliability, Lenovo Thinkpads are bullet proof. The Carbon is nice and light. Only minus is you can't upgrade yourself as in soldered RAM & not sheriff about HDD.

The T series always has massive discounts on their website, you could get a top of the line one for just a bit over $1k.

Usualy used to go Hewitt Packard until they became less popular - their stuff lasted yonks and yonks for me imho

I have an ASUS from 6 years ago that has taken a beaten and never had any issues. I used it heavily for about 5 years and now just leave it hooked up to my TV for watching downloaded movies on.

I had a Samsung for 9 years and the only fault was it needed the hard drive replacing once.

macbook is pretty good. although mine now shuts off at 10% without giving the low battery warning sign. Which is annoying because most of the time i'm not aware that the battery is almost empty.

I'd say Lenovo from my experience.

Asus too but I'd only get something with SSD as I've had issues with reliability with normal HDD drives.

And yeah from my experience HP are complete garbage. Most expensive laptop I ever purchased was a HP and after 6 months I returned it because it was just constantly having hardware issues with the screen and battery which isn't something you'd expect from a top end model.

This Motile has served me well after I got a brand new Lenovo that literally broke down in a day. For being a Walmart brand (LOL) it has incredible specs for the price you pay. Only issue I have had is it overheats if you're doing a lot of demanding things at once, nothing a good $20 laptop fan can't solve though. Did I mention it weighs 2.5 lbs only?

I had a Toshiba for years and only got rid of it because I wanted a change. It was great, never let me down. Replaced with a Lenovo ideapad, and it's a piece of chit and has been since day one. Takes forever to power up or install anything on it. Crashes constantly or freezes. Have to ctrl alt delete at least once every time I use it. Admittedly, I might just be unlucky, because everyone else raves about Lenovo.

OP buy a used "workstation laptop" off eBay for like $250

Brb built like a tank
Brb quality to last you 50 years
Brb CPU was 5 years ahead of its time
Brb literally best laptop that would come out that year, normally coats $2000-$3000

Still fukin pissed I spent $800 on that POS lenovo that had viruses and chit was snapping left and right, whole screen fell apart after 2 years

Meanwhile you could bring an 2013 Dell precision M4800 workstation laptop and use it as a shield against BLM rioters and go home and do whatever it is u do with ur laptop

I just never bother with a laptop when you can build a rock solid desktop for $500 and not skimp on the quality of any parts.

You can't beat a $500 desktop with a modern Linux operating system. You won't even have to turn it off for months at a time. If something does go wrong I can reinstall completely in 15 min.

Apple and Lenovo are the most consistent when it comes to reliability.

Obviously you can get another brand and it will last a long time. You can also get one of those and it's a lemon.

But by playing the odds those 2 are the top right now for reliability.

Things also aren't built like they use to build them, people want new **** ever 2 years or less so companies don't have a lot of motivation to make things last anymore.

I've always ended up with HPs, even my work laptop is an HP. I may look into this Lenovo the next time I need a new one.

All I know is I bought a HP laptop used for $100 like 8 years ago and it still works perfectly fine other than the battery life showing its age. The wifes MacBook which is roughly the same age according to her is having some issues but I am more inclined to believe its due to lack of updating more than anything...So who really knows... seems as if whatever you buy is a fkn gamble.

They're gonna announce macbook pro 14" with ARM aka a14x probably on the 15rd of Sept. I'm the first in line if this happens.
