Yeah of course you're not gonna look huge if you're 150. But I believe you'll atleast look aesthetic.
There is a difference between skinny fat and ripped. But you know who else is 150lbs and ripped (AKA low bodyfat)? Runners, cyclists, just about anyone thats 150lbs and does any kind of exercise. He wouldn't stand out, or if he did stand out it would be because people would imagine hes just a runner, not the elite tier strength athlete that he is
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

4 plates is a show stopper. Less than 1% and realistically for most humans less than 0.01% of people they meet will be able to do it.

I’m pretty meh about it, admittedly I’ve never seen anyone else besides myself do 405 outside of a competition in person, I’d definitely give a guy a “good job, solid lift” if I saw it, but wouldn’t be that impressive. Seeing a guy deadlift 750+ for 4 reps recently was more of a WTF moment.

I’m climbing back to 405 after years of beating my body up with rugby, booze, and half assed training. Will report back about gym vibe when I do it.

When I hit 405 I had 4-5 of my buddies around me and the gym was pretty empty so I don’t think anyone else really noticed although I was pretty locked in. Also I’ve noticed when guys are going for bigger lifts they usually do a lot of showmanship to get attention, making noise, being dramatic about putting the weight on, for me it was just a regular day and felt strong and had started a set at 315 and the first rep felt really light so it was like fuk it let’s cut this set short at 1 and see where I can go. Hit 405 really easily and probably could have kept going to 430ish but I was training for rugby and no sense in pushing an injury.

I hit 365 for a triple one time when the gym was busier and got a lot of attention for that. Trainers coming up to me and asking who I was and chit. I was 215ish and carry a lot of weight in my legs so I look lighter than I am, which probably made it look more impressive.

But what percentage of gorillas or polar bears could do it? I'm guessing 99+ percent. Doesn't seem to impressive anymore, does it? (not srs)

John Haack is a certified freak. That dude has zero holes in his game.

I've honestly only seen one person bench 405 IRL in the past 6-7 years that I've been lifting. That guy was about 6'5" or so (I'm 6'0" and he was several inches taller than me) and very solidly built, probably 275+ given his frame and high teens BF%. Never saw him go over 405 but he would bang 1-2 reps out without too much drama then do some rep sets at 3+ plates. Was impressive as fukk TBH.

I honestly think John Haack is one of those dudes that looks bigger and more impressive than he does on camera srs. He's like 6'2 and has lankcel proportions. But I guess still though, you wouldn't be able to tell he was a world class powerlifter who can bench 500 lbs and pull near 900 lbs. But you could probably look at him and say he's probably a 3+ plate bencher

For sure, normally when you hear about a lighter guy squatting 700+ lbs, you assume they have freak leverages geared for the squat that make the deadlift terrible. But nope, his deadlift is also spectacular. And if the deadlift is really good, maybe he has disproportionally long arms and is a mediocre bencher? Nope, his bench is almost 3x bw. I don't know how he does it

I thought haack was like 5'9 or 5'10? He completes in 180

There was actually a thread I think a few years back, I think his username was davik. He was actually decently strong, I think he squatted 4 plates, deadlifted 5 plates but from what I remember had a relatively poverty bench but it still wasn't that terrible (I think around 245). He basically made a thread about complaining about how he had these fairly decent lifts but how and why he looked so DYEL and how nobody could tell that he lifted. And that he basically looked like a complete beginner.

Nobody believed him and his claims based on his lifts. Saying he was either frauding his lifts or that he actually didn't look that bad. He posted his lifts and posted his bodypics and the misc was actually amazed that he wasn't lying. He actually could lift a lot of weight and he actually did look like a skinny fat DYEL lmao. I mean a 245 bench is nothing to write home about but what you said just reminded me of this, lol. Probably just bad genetics and minimalist training but still we were all bewildered. Would rep anybody who could actually find that thread. The misc reaction to being proved wrong was just lmao. Everybody's mind was blown.

Typically only reserved in the non roidhead populations for naturally large power/strength athletes.

Most of the time they are usually 6’+ thick boned and over 240 lbs

Top linemen/linebackers at D1/D1AA level
Top level collegiate throwers
Top level heavyweight/220 wrestlwrs

Not standard level stuff by any means, and personally Ive seen maybe 10 people in my whole life do it IRL, and Ive worked out with some extremely strong people and was a D1 athlete

Seen a 615lb bench press once. Guy would also rep 500+ for 10 regularly without a spot. 6’0. 300+lbs. roided out of his ears. Didn’t squat or deadlift. Bodybuilder and bench.

Seen 400lbs by another guy once in my life. Black DE/OLBer type guy. Never saw him at my gym again. Just played basketball, obviously.

Just goes to show the old adage is true...,

You're falling for the social media illusion here. 4 plate bench is fukking elite dude. Even for powerlifters it's a big achievement. I've never even seen anyone press anywhere near 4 plates IRL.

Yeah, I notice in the background of every video I have repping 405+ there are people openly staring, especially when it was pause reps.

I chuckle a little to myself when I occasionally see someone do chit half reps with 315 - and they obviously think I'm mirin as I stare at their train wreck lifting.

My 330lb giant bro back in Canada could do full range seated shoulder press with 4 plates, and bizzarely enough no one would give it a second glance and that was in a generic commercial gym
