It's this self-deprecating, "haha it's so funny that I'm schit at singing or painting" type of attitude in our culture that you have to try and distance yourself from. Once you build up confidence and internalize a belief that you can absolutely do it, and take the steps necessary to get yourself going and practice consistently, you'll get there.
I'm at a point in my life where I'm struggling with school but really want to pursue art and get good at tattooing.
A dream would be to tattoo as good as @mashkow.
But I guess the confidence comes with time and trust me I'm working on it.

Oh wow, nice job OP.
My idea of a hobby these days is learning how to solve a rubik's cube (lol), but this just inspired me. I've always wanted to learn how to draw human portraits, but it just seems so hard. Might have to look into it and start, maybe I'll get somewhere in 5 years or so haha.

I can't remember exactly what I posted in the past so it's possible there's a bit of overlap, but not too much. Here are a few oil paintings I created in the past 2 months or so. I tried to push myself and learn seascapes. I prefer landscapes so I'll stick with those in the future.
Currently trying to motivate myself to paint some time today.
Hope you enjoy. Just remember that I started last year with zero previous art skills. I just learned following along to episodes of The Joy of Painting. So, if any of you are interested in painting but you harbor a belief that, for some reason, you can't do it, let this thread serve as further proof to the contrary. You absolutely can do it. You just have to dedicate a bit of practice time, much like learning any other skill.

#1 reminds me of the lake near Mt.Fuji I visited decades ago and #5 exactly looks like the scenery I jog a lot.....and those Crashing Sea Waves in #2,3,4 are amazingly real and compelling, draw me into its world of thundering whirlpool.
Whoever said that misc is dying is wrong, as long as threads like this keep coming we will thrive, I have no doubt!!

Impromptu painting from yesterday afternoon. I wanted to do a fall painting as the scenery where I live is really nice right now and the autumn colors are at their peak. I focused a lot on sky blending for this one. Overall, it was really fun because I wasn't following a video or anything and tried letting the creativity flow. I'm not too pleased with the mountain but whatever. This took me a good 2 hours to complete.
