I've had a few members ask me to post a few more of my paintings recently. I can't remember exactly what I posted in the past so it's possible there's a bit of overlap, but not too much. Here are a few oil paintings I created in the past 2 months or so. I tried to push myself and learn seascapes. I prefer landscapes so I'll stick with those in the future.

Currently trying to motivate myself to paint some time today.

So, if any of you are interested in painting but you harbor a belief that, for some reason, you can't do it, let this thread serve as further proof to the contrary.You absolutely can do it. There's a lot of misconception when it comes to the arts. My primary artistic outlet is music. I've been composing half my life, play over a dozen instruments, and have a recording studio in my house where I craft and record songs. Music, like with any other art, is something you need to stick with to become well-versed.

Here is a picture of my very first painting I ever tried. You can see that with consistent practice, dedication, determination, and a generally positive outlook, I practiced readily and improved over the past 1.5 years.



wet on wet oil painting is pretty user-friendly. Any poster in this thread can get where I am now in regard to painting. You just need to be confident and give it a real try.

It's all about practice. A lot of people also have this natural inclination to engage in self-deprecating thoughts and turn art into a bit of a caricature at times. Karaoke and 'paint nights' exemplify this. It's this self-deprecating, "haha it's so funny that I'm schit at singing or painting" type of attitude in our culture that you have to try and distance yourself from. Once you build up confidence and internalize a belief that you can absolutely do it, and take the steps necessary to get yourself going and practice consistently, you'll get there.
