God is infinitely wiser than us. We may not yet understand the plan but whatever it is it is what's best for us.
You need only look at the degeneracy in the world and the agendas the main stream pushes, which is pretty much everything in direct opposition to the bible and God's commands.
Do people really think that after thousands of years living in caves with candlelight, all of a sudden in the last 150 years we've come to this? All this technology out of nowhere after thousands of years with not even a refrigerator?
This is part of satan's push for global dominance. Corrupt the minds if the young, get them away from God. Brainwash them to worship the earth, the sun, other gods, false jesus's, animals, themselves, the government, politics, sports, even convincing people they themselves are gods. I fell into this trap until recently.
Now the one world government is coming to fruition. Already pretty much there in Europe. Now the push for the US. All prophesied the the bible.
I almost threw up in my mouth when another poster itt said he was gonna read a whole bunch of other scripture including Hinduism before reading the bible. Just craziness.
The true word of God comes the Holy Bible. King James Version only. All others are corrupted.
Isaiah 45:22-23. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

I think you lose your fear of death by learning to love life. Fear is an emotive response typically associated with situations that remain outside of our control. One could assume that many fear death because it signifies the end of the "possibles." Upon death, your being becomes crystallized and your "possibles" or "potentialities" come to an understandable end. You become your choices and actions and thoughts made during life, and I think that frightens many people.
I believe that love of life involves the love of death. In order to properly understand your life, you must immediately come to grips with the reality that some day you will cease to exist. What such a realization might produce within a person is that their actions/choices might align with who theyauthentically are as a person.
Destruction of your "Ego" (I.E. that is, the "Idealized You") is the first step towards achieving this end.
Anyone attempting to frame this as a Biblical/Deity issue, rather than a Self/Being issue is mischaracterizing the question IMO. Framing it along normative religion paradigms externalizes the issue as something that existsapart from the Self. It pretends that faith in a benevolent God or fear of an evil Satan (afterlife spent in Hell) is enough to offset the fear of dying. In truth, that's merely placing faith in a potentiality that may or may not exist. Again, I believe the solution is intrinsic to the person. Freedom exists within each person, provided they are attuned to such a belief.

i don't fear my own death. Only thing i worry about is that it would be extremely hard on the few people that care about me (my parents). Over the last few years I've developed a pretty nihilistic outlook on life otherwise.

Everything is cope. You will never be unafraid of dying because it's hardwired into our survival. You cannot turn it off.
If you mean you are just moping every day cause you scared one day you gonna die - just stop thinking about it. You cannot reason your way through it, it's just a feeling and feelings as you know rarely have bottoms or end to them. If you dive in deeper hoping to get to the other side - you are not. It's endless. You have power over your own mind, not outside events so don't give into retarded feelings, OP.

Realize that you can immortalize yourself in your children and accomplishments. Or recognize the fact that you are a speck of dust in the sands of time and will cease to exist, as will humanity and the overall universe in the grand scheme of things, so just accept it and live your fleeting life to its fullest while you can.

Life has many stages. I too was once in the fear of death, early 40s.
Trying to know what death is helped meacceptit that it's not a tragic inevitability rather it's a part of life.
The fear is normal and nobody likes it. However being trapped in it, is a completely different thing.
Movies, books in which deaths occur and sharing your thought about death with someone instead of avoiding the topic will all help.
Proactive attitude to face the fear is the best weapon to conquer it.
Slow and steady, you can do it. The day will come you can control the fear, I promise.

Think about it like this, what if you were told you only had 24hrs to live and there was nothing you could do to stop it. Would you rather spend your last day alive just freaking out about it or would you at least try to enjoy your last hours relaxing, spending time with family/friends etc.?
