If you tuck your ankles behind your head and roll on to your back like a crab on it's back... then insert a 500mm long dildo in your ass hole will you float?

It's not that hard to prove.

Same chit archimedes invented like a million years ago when he gapped your mom's corn hole to model the effects of friction loss in large diameter pipes.

It depends, if the crabs are swimming in the tank, they weigh nothing. But once they land on the bottom of the tank, they weigh 1 crab each.

That depends, are 5lbs or water heavier than 5lbs of feathers?
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

It depends on if the feathers are wet, and if the water is dry.

Is it a closed system? If so then any addition of mass will make the overall weight of the ship increase, even if its apparent weight within the water is neutral. If its not a closed system it gets grayish, if you give them a container big enough such that they can all free float with out touching the sides of the cage one can say it doesnt increase the weight at all and the surrounding ocean is what gains the overall mass.

Increase in displacement and reduction in buoyancy, no “weight” until the inside tanks are discharged.

So how much does the boat weight if it was in outer space with 200k pounds of crabs in it??

Today I learned how to lose weight the fastest. Just jump in a boat and float in a crab tank - 100% bodyweight lost in one day.

The boat displaces 500k lbs of water more. Not the same as weighing more.

I'm sure whatever the water weight of the ballast tanks is all that matters. Crab is put in and water displaces overboard. Not sure the weight of the crab is as heavy as the area water it displaces. So 500k of crab plus whatever water that doesn't displace to the brim of the tanks. The water is needed to not crush the crab in transit.

I'd guess 500k plus 1-2/5ths of tank water which is variable depending on the size of the boat.

In reference to the boat itself, the crab or you won’t weigh anything, because you are floating in water space. This is magnified as the larger the boat is. The water and crabs will increase displacement as buoyancy reduces....on the ocean. fresh water would be even more pronounced since less density.

Real answer:

If they put them into holding tanks that are already filled with water, then there is no NEW change in the boats weight. This is assuming the density of a crab is roughly the same as water which it is close enough.

The thing is you are assuming the water was already in the tanks and that the water level in them doesnt change, that a crab goes in and some water goes out overboard, so no change in weight of the boat.

Also know that if/when the tank was initially empty and they put water in the tank, then it would increase the weight of the boat. Yes the weight going in is still the same density as water but it still increases the boat, before that was air which was lighter density than water so the boat weighed less with air in the tank compared to with water in the tank. So with the crabs it is no different than if they caught some crabs but threw over some old crabs of the same weight, then no the weight of the boat wouldnt change. IF the water level was allowed to increase in the tanks (which obviously it cant do forever) then yes the weight of the boat would increase.

To back up a bit though - yes the boat would have to be designed to hold the 500k pounds in weight regardless if it has crabs or water in the tank. But its a big industrial boat, its buoyancy force is huge because its profile underwater is huge.

The crab still has weight, either in air or in water it has weight. If you dump the water from the tank overboard that it displaced then there is no real weight change in the boat, but that is no different than if you put the crab on the deck, found some chit that weighs the same as the crab and then threw that overboard and said look no new change in weight of the boat so the crab must be weightless.

But in general, boats use ballast water which is water they can take in and dump out depending on the weight of other things on the boat. This is hugely critical for freight and tankers.
This. boats use water in tanks to change trim and ballast all the time. If there is no water in the tanks then there would be air in the tank. If there was no tank at all and just an empty space within the envelope of the boat, then its basically the same think as a tank full of air. The water DOES weigh down the boat.

People are thinking of an open free flow space of the boat, a cavity that is open to sea, that is different than a tank.

Spacetime is still curved by earth's mass thus interacting with the mass of the crabs buoyant in the water producing an apparent acceleration that produces a force on the water thus boat as a whole.

Sure, the watercouldspill overboard if designed to do so, but the crabs still weigh the same and exert that force on the boat.

The crabs float because the water pushes back. The water pushes back because it pushes off the boat, thus transferring the weight.

lol.

Consider the length of these vessels and epic wide beams, the effect of the displacement is even less noticeable, requires even “heavier” loads.
