I can't tell you how many different starting positions I tried. Hips high, hips low, feet narrow, feet wide, feet angled out, not angled out. And every combination thereof....

I also tried reading a ton of "cues" like "bar halfway over foot", "raise your chest up", "drive your belly into your knees", and so on. None of these helped, ultimately trial and error did

The bar is probably a little over halfway over my feet, closer to my toes when I start. Which is different than most people. My shins are also angled over the bar (not straight up) and my knees are over my toes not ankles. I suppose this puts my hips closer to the bar which reduces the leverage on my lower back

The starting position for me almost feels like a quarter squat and I have a ton of power from the floor. With any other stance I feel so weak off the floor
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

Figure 8 straps will let you hold the weight near your finger tips which reduces the ROM a little compared to no straps. If you want to stay as close to the normal deadlift as possible I'd just stay with normal straps

interesting, to be honest i really never questioned myself about it, it was strange that my deadlift was weak but i always pushed it to bad leverages. i'll dedicate this week only checking the form and trying everything and what feels better, what i do now is i grip as close as possible like even narrower than shoulders and never paid attention to my feet. i'll buy regular straps then, heard they are good also for pull ups and all lat work.
