He is like many, many comedians.

Young: dysfunctional life. Comedy stories are about how messed up their life is/was. Stories about stupid **** they did as teens/young adults. Relationship mishaps and sex stuff.

Then they get older and more stable. They've used up all their stories about how messed up they used to be. Now they do wife/kid jokes. When those get old, they turn to politics. Rarely are they funny.
