Yes, just about all my uncles. Every single one came back alive and well.
One of my first uncles fought Sugar Ray Robinson in the ring. He knew him pretty well, I'm assuming. They were in the army together.
Sugar Ray didn't get injured in the war. He went on to become THE greatest boxing legend of all time. My uncle, however, came home with an injury from war that ended his boxing career. I can't imagine his pain. But he's with me every day in spirit now.

My grandfather enlisted in the Naval Reserves days before Pearl Harbor. He was a prior Marine in the 1920s. He died less than a year before I was born, so I never knew him, and my father never talked about him. I never saw his photo albums before until I visited my brother for Christmas last year.
I'm not exactly sure, but I think that's him, the older guy about the center of the picture. This one would have been from WW2

I had one grandfather who was a bombardier/ navigator in the 396th bombsquadron/ 41st bomber group - flew in a couple of Mitchells but mainly attached to a B-25J named Miss Alice - you can google it.
Flew out of Okinawa, bombed Kyushu, Tokyo and eventually escorted Enola Gay. My brother has the flight charts.
I have another grandfather who died on the Gothic Line, he was infantry

My grandfather was a bombardier in B17's flying out of Nuthamstead. Actually met my grandmother who is Scottish while he was there, I am a product of WW2, it had to happen to create me...sorry.

My grandfather was an engineer on a bomber squadron. He was deployed in Europe and saw action. He didn't speak much about his time during the war because most of his friends were killed while they were there.
My mother's uncle was also on s hip that was sunk during the Pearl Harbor bombing. He survived. He was re-deployed to a ship in the south Pacific and was sunk again, again he survived.

grandfather was a sergeant. Was part of a team that helped document the atrocities committed at concentration camps after.
