Add lunges and single leg RDLs and you have a decent BW program.

Walking is pretty good if we're talking hiking uphill with a rucksack for 4-6 hours at a decent pace. It's even better than running.

Yup exactly. Calisthenics builds a type of sticky muscle that just doesn’t leave you nor weigh you down. You feel like a tiger. Instead of a heavy elephant

Always only relied on the gym for my workouts but now I've been trying to work in some calisthenic workouts to build a more well rounded physique. Want to have functional muscles instead of just being able to pick chit up and put it down

If you have fatboi genetics it might be ok to just do body-weight exercises to get in shape. I don't and it really didn't work well for me.

When I first started 'working out' I really only did pushups, pull-ups and air squats every other day. Eventually was using a 40lb weight vest. I was doing something like 5-6 sets of 75 pushups, 4 sets of 10-12 pull-ups (Alternating grips) and 5 sets of 35 air squats every other day. I already was athletic, I was just a little more athletic and a little stronger. Eventually moved onto weights and put on a lot more size and strength.

I still think pushups and pullups are two of the best exercises you can do on a chest/back day. I don't care how advanced you are. Finish off your chest day with about 3 sets of slow and controlled pushups until failure. That sh!t will leave your entire upper pumped.

Karl Gotch was a legendary catch wrestler who made his bones in the 1948 Olympics and trained at Billy Riley's Snake Pit in the 50's. He is known as the "God of Wrestling" in Japan due to his influence over Japanese grappling.

Karl Gotch built his own name through decades of hard work and training.

I'm inclined to agree to an extent. I did only calisthenics for months at the start of this and just recently started benching again and I'm pushing more weight than ever. In my experience you need a ton of volume for calisthenics though.

And Gotch took his training and became one of the best grapplers of his time, while Furey wrote a bunch of bullsh!t credentials about himself and the only time he was ever tested he was easy beaten by a much smaller man who was in attendance at "catch" seminar Furey was giving.

A lot of people that do body weight stuff at my gym are not that far off from how crossfiters do "pull ups". They might not be kipping, but they have very little range of motion, form is sht and tempo is as fast as possible. It's like they just want to count more reps by making things easy......like crossfit competitions. Except they're not competiting. There's so many guys at my gym that does a crap ton of reps for push ups and I really doubt any of them can do 10 push ups perfect.

I use to do sets of 50 push ups and get to 800-1000 total. Then I started trying to at least do 100 of them perfect; full scapula protraction, lower back flat, all the way down till chest touches ground and all the way up again to full scapula protraction at a controlled pace (no where near fast). Doing 10 reps of those is WAY harder than doing my normal 50 reps. Now the only way I do em is prefect.

Yeh bro i corrected myself before you even told me all this. Sit the fuk down. I used fury as an example, there are many practitioners out there that do calisthenics.

Yes it takes volume. Or not. Who says HIT Mike Mentzer style wouldnt work simply because its calisthenics?

I could make do with push-ups, pulls ups, dips, chins, pistol squat, Bulgarian split squat, ab work and sprints.

I have poor delt genetics (average width) so that would suck not being able to isolate those heads. Arms would shrink, and most likely legs. But with low body fat, most people wouldn’t know the difference. They’d think you look “incredible” like Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. His physique in that movie is what I described perfectly.
