Did a maxillo surgeon do it ?

I had all 4 taken out when i was about 17. THey were all under the gums still. I was stupid and started OD'ing on my own norcos and my dad's norcos. smoked tree and went to the movies with my homies and started throwing up. Saw a commercial for a new movie that just came out on dvd and i said it looked pretty good. my friends looked at me like i was an idiot becuase that was the movie we saw at the theaters but i literally had no recollection.

Had the procedure done, currently on day 1 (or 0?) of recovery.

Was a nervous mess getting there and beforehand. Played some WoW Shadow Lands for a couple hours to distract. I remember getting in with the GF, paying preemptively for the procedure. Happy my credit card didn't get suspicious since it was a ridiculously high bill.

They sat me down in the surgery chair, already several nurses in there getting things hooked up and tools moved together. Sat in the chair, and they needed to draw blood from one arm for the purposes of mixing the plasma with a cadaver's bone for a bone graft I needed since one of the wisdom teeth was impacted and tore through the bone. There'd be a gap after removal, so bone graft was necessary for filling the gap and encouraging the bones to heal.

Never had an IV before (or blood drawn) so got extra nervous. Wasn't that bad tbh.

Then they put a bunch of patches on my chest/stomach for monitoring things. Along with some tubes that just barely got inserted into my nostrils for oxygen. Could hear my pulse and even the breathing from machines monitoring me behind me. In front of me is my previous X-ray of my jaw with the pharked up Wisdom teeth.

Then they did an IV in the other arm, this one full of vitamins / medicine, related to "twilight" IV sedation and stuff. After that they put sun glasses on me, I guess for the lights that'd be all over my face.

Next thing I knew there was one random several seconds moment where I could feel scraping where the bone graft tooth was from the surgeon. No pain from that memory, just pressure.

Then suddenly I was all done LOL. They had gauss in my mouth, took it out, replaced it. The surgeon said everything went well. They put me into a wheel chair, put into the car. I was still loopy but I remember it mostly.

Got back home and after a bit I realized my bone graft tooth side was particularly sore, the other 3 teeth areas didn't have any feeling. Also my jaw was numb for a solid 3-4 hours. Took some Vicodin (hydrocodone), antioxidants, and a type of dat-der pill to reduce swelling, and have been pain free ever since. Got enough for 3 days worth apparently.

Been almost 5 hours since the operation now and I'm still swapping out gauss, still blood in it every time but lesser every time. Annoying to swallow anything, even pills, so not gonna be eating much today and probably tomorrow. Can't work out, drink a straw, or anything fun like that for 7+ days. Got a follow up appointment next week to inspect everything.

All in all not a bad experience... so far at least. Folks say the real pain comes in on Day 2 / 3 of recovery. I'm very pleased with IV sedation, it's like I time traveled from paranoia ville to chilled out and done in a near instant.

I had mine removed about 10 years ago, and even though I didn't have dental insurance it qualified as oral surgery so it was covered. So I could either be kept awake while they worked and it would cost about 1k, or I could be knocked completely out and it would cost $1500. My deductible was $1000 so basically I could get completely knocked out and it wouldn't cost me a dime so thats the way I went. I just remember counting down backwards from 10 and got to about 6 then woke up and was done.

I had 4 removed a long time ago. Not too big of a deal. Went in, went under, woke up high AF. The end.

Don't screw up and get dry socket

Both of my bottoms have erupted and needs to be taken out but my tops haven't. I wonder if I can just take the two bottom out.

Lol reminds me of my experience. Never been put under before, wasn’t all the way out, but next thing I know I’m out of it and the doc taps me and says “ok, you’re all done” felt like I closed my eyes for ten seconds.

I still have my wisdom teeth, but only 3. I think about the day when I have to have mine removed and it makes me sweat. I HATE having anythign wrong with my mouth. My first semester of undergrad, i started having problems with one of my lower front incisors. It got worse and worse over the first week of my first big tests in chemistry. By the friday of my test, I couldnt sit still and concentrate at all so I just bubbled in stuff and left to get an emergency appt at a dentist. In my town at least, dentists dont usually work on fridays. Long story short, i ended up having to get a root canal (it took a month and half to get the proper diagnosis) because 7 years earlier, i damaged the tooth in a pool accident. Over that half decade, the root slowly leaked blood and built up pressure and killed the root causing an abscess.

Glad to hear went relatively well Opie. I had mine out (while under sedation) many years ago. Wasn’t too bad - but, yeah, about 2-3 days afterwards it got a little uncomfortable.

don't listen to these *******s - day 2-3 suuuuuucks. Save you pain meds for those days. Once you get past those days you'll be fine.

lol I was fully expecting them to put me in a wheel chair after I finished, but the lady just fukin had me stand up right after I came to then kept a hand on my arm as I weaved down the fukin hall and out to my car. I only walked into the wall once though, and it was a corner.

right on, now you won't have to deal with that **** ever a gain. Feels good.

hurts like chit, but i guess worth it if it is just going to cuk up your grill
