Not just personally but professionally as well. Even within family settings too.
I’ve tried switching environments (new friends, new jobs, new cities, new universities) and there’s never a place that I’ve really fit. Mostly just consider myself a lost cause at this point.
Starting to accept I’ll always be out of place no matter what.
I imagine a lot other miscers are like this too

I can be introverted and sometimes socially awkward, then at times I can be an extrovert and talk to anyone about anything forever. If I don't feel engaged, goodnight.
Try taking some stimulants.. You can start with strong coffee or caffeine (200mg tablets)... Then you can work your way up or trying something else.
Sounds like you spent a lot of time alone as a child.

I get along great with my two normie friends and I genuinely love them and they have been amazing friends to me for over 20 years.
But I think completely differently from them. I can’t relate to the way they see the world and the things they think about. They are focused on their kids and various chores and errands and a social calendar. And everyone in their social circle is like them. They’re all on that same frequency and I’m in a completely different place mentally.

Yeah, I don't fit in well anywhere. My BJJ gym was great while it lasted, but I don't ever seem to make solid, lasting friendships.
However, part of that's because I can't relate to hardly any women. My bf in HS was a guy, tbh although we don't talk much now, he's probably still my best friend, and nearly every friend I have that's still around to any extent is male. As I've gotten older the opposite sex friendships have shifted to being less close, so my social circle is basically my husband and ********.

The problem with intellectual people is that they are too logical.
It's all about bantering and trolling people and giving off good emotions.

Would much rather have a small chill session with a couple of people drinking in a dingy bar than attending a swanky banquet at a 5 star resort. I guess working 60hr weeks don't help much either in the energy department.
I have been able to train myself to be 51% Extravert but some days I have to isolate myself.
IDK if this info helps but I hope that it tells you you're not alone in feeling like you do.

Social encounters have to pass the same cost-benefit analysis as any other investment decision. I will put in whatever social effort needed to get whatever return back I hope to attain. If I foresee poor odds of return, I invest (or rather not) accordingly. I can roughly estimate who's going to bring what social return (positive or negative) to the table, and move to increase or decrease contact accordingly.
I don't consider this anti-social either. I call it being selective. As an introvert with limited social fuel reserves, it's in my best interest to be selective and allocate wisely with whom to interact with, engage with, respond to, to obtain the most probable best social outcomes possible. I have to, not only is time finite, but the quality of life is too easily raised or lowered via these social engagements.
Should my end game be to maximize peace, love and happiness in this world to achieve highest quality of life (which it is), then it stands to reason I ensure my social investment decisions are driven with that end game in mind (which it is).
And yeah, I hear you on missing having a best friend. I miss it also.

You might be smarter than other people/most people you encounter.
If you pay attention, dumb people tend to have a lot of friends (albeit dumb as them). Seems like they might be having fun but probably not. Lotta laughing about nothing funny, lotta meaningless conversations, lotta conversations that are subtle bragging/validation seeking.
So I dunno ...yeah having a great group of friends who are interesting and all the rest would be great ...but just hanging out with basic people not so great...unless hot pussy obvsly.

Meh I cannot be friends with boring people. Everybody I hang out with regularly is at least mildly nuts, and the only thing keep us boring is that working life.

When sober, yeah it's just a grind.
It's a lot easier with someone else who is genuine and has the capacity and attention span to listen.

Im not even smart but yeah... the only semblance of a few engaging discussions i had would be with a hand full of class mates at university , but even then most are just bounded by the constructed boundaries of society so it was never meaning full.
I mostly just evade all discussions now, its mostly a big waste of time and it feels like im just talking to a program
edit especially now with this scamdemic... it really exposed 95% of the people out there as dumb cowards. Both pro and against are retarded. only smart opinionated people are here and a few on pol

It's really weird, I make acquaintences super easily and people want to hang out with me but I usually turn down those invites. I'm more introverted than not and don't like the process of making new friends that much. I mean it takes SO MUCH to reach the comfortable stage of a friendship when you both can sit in silence and not feel awkward. I have 3 super close friends that I fully trust and would do anything for. Family to me will always take priority though.
