That is a 27% discrepancy, I'd call that far off. Or would you be OK with me paying you $733,333.33 if I owed you $1,000,000. If so I would like to borrow some money.

you should check out some lib states like NY. Brb, paying 20k+ a year for the privilege of owning something in the glorious communist state.

the only areas with reasonable taxes (~$1k) are going to be red states. Texas is on its way of turning blue due to commie infiltration / flood from california.

I also don't know the specific county he's looking at. So it's actually not too far off and is likely accurate is what I was saying.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Yes you now own the house instead of paying rent owning nothing, but it's still bs.
100%. If you want to get technical, you kind of don't own it (in a way) because if you don't pay those taxes then you're going to get a lien on that house.

What you are not understanding is that we have to pay for all the illegal immigrants somehow, hence the high taxes all over the country- from sales, to property, to income, to state income, to social security, to unemployment to capital gains....it literally never stops.

Lol. I make decent money but have better money management skills. I bought my first house when I was 22 before the insane jump in prices so I have been using equity to upgrade homes and buy multiple. I moved to GTA for work about 3 years ago now.

Texas doesn't have state income tax so they have to rape you elsewhere.

I pay about $13k/yr between rentals and primary home and will likely have a 6 figure property tax bill at some point in my life.

San Antonio is extremely bad btw, Texas does State, City, and County property tax. It no **** adds up to 3.4%

I'm paying about half that in a smaller town. Texas average is 1.9% and US average is 1% so 3.4% is actual rape.

"OMG property taxes are so high in Texas!!! I'd better post this in misc!"

After tax he will be further ahead in Texas by a fair margin. Combine that with the US dollar's far greater purchasing power than our Canadian Peso (soon to be Canadian Bolivar) and freaking out about his property tax will be the last thing he'll be thinking about. Oh yeah, and the tax-free cap gains from selling his hovel in Ontario.

This is something that reallllly rustles me. If I've paid off my house and land, why do I still have to pay taxes? It would be as stupid as paying taxes on a car after it's paid off --- but wait---

Yep, I'm paying about 1,200/year on my house (assessed around 300k-ish), and almost 1,500 on 3 cars that aren't even CLOSE to new. VA is becoming a joke, I'm thinking more and more about looking around elsewhere.
(Oh and this was after one of our former governors -who promised to get rid of the car tax- at least got it cut in half, LOLOLOL.)

Property Taxes are so ****ing retarded, its a penalty for trying to do better in life. Also the best part about them is they're do in December, like an Xmas fuk you present from the govt.

The fact that they apply to businesses is also extremely retarded. At our family business we can beautify the property and help out our neighbors by increasing their property values and as a reward we can pay higher taxes. Its an incentive not to improve things.

Only joke here is you, pal. You look at other people like your brother in law and have nothing but hatred for them. You love your country, yet you want to spit on a vet because he gets a little something for going through some war. i have a "paid off" house but still pay 2500 a year in property tax and it edges up a little each year

the commie rentcel scum vote for every single measure that increases property tax because in their smooth minds, they assume that they are fukking over homeowners. of course, it never occurs to them that landlords increase their rent as a result. fukken retards

we legit had an "affordable housing" measure pass that was funded by increasing property tax. LOL!

i vote no on every single measure and these bullchitviks overwhelmingly vote for every one

a nice slice of my property tax goes toward police pensions, and those *******s aren't even laying waste to the antifa terrorists with live ammo.

$4000 per month for life and easily another $1M+ of VA services over his lifetime for somebody who has “boo-boos on the inside” is the real disgrace.

Thank God the Men from WW1 and WW2 didn’t betray our country like that, we would have been bankrupted before Desert Storm if not Vietnam. You agreed to be a soldier and we’re more than happy to take every penny you could get in exchange for it but that wasn’t enough, now you need a check for life on top of every other benefit (like no property taxes) that you were already going to get for life for your service that you were already paid for. Spare me the lecture.
I fully agree with you brah. The system is broken and far too easy to game. Those that served in actual combat I will argue deserve everything they can get, and especially those that were legitimately injured in service, but 4 year desk jockeys that never even left the states? Far too many of those collecting a "disability" check for life on top of the many fringe benefits that come with service regardless of duration or combat time (that I'm perfectly OK with, USAA, VA care, etc).

This, and I'm prior military myself. I've seen plenty absolutely abuse the disability system (and you need a 100% rating for what he's claiming), and I work for the Federal Government (as a civilian) now so know several veteran coworkers who do it as well.

Lol at ppl in most states claiming they didnt lose money on their house or that they sold their house for a “gain”

Houses are bad investments these days unless u can buy without loan or very high down payment and even then u need to live in a low tax state
It makes sense but it also doesn't

I bought a Condo in 2017 for 210k (i only put 5% down and owe about 187k on it now)

Someone just offered me 216k for it...after realtor fees etc. I'll get about 205k for it, so I'll get to pocket around 18k.

If I rented since 2017, I would get nothing back (oh and my mortgage was cheaper than the average rent in my area including everything Principal/interest/pmi/tax and condo insurance)

It's not a great ROI or anything, just better than renting and paying off someone else's mortgage
