Seen this schit all over ********, it's the new Downton Abbey from what I can tell.

Also, RE Black people being in it, it's kinda weird to see but then I guess you can get used to it if you just don't overthink how unlikely it is. But the thing I can't help but smirk at is that it would actually piss off overly woke types as it's effectively being colour-blind. Black/mixed people in British high society and banging aristocrat daughters without people caring in the same period of chattel slavery? Can't imagine how the woke brigade handle this - it's "inclusive" and "diverse" but also ignores "the historic suffering of PoC caused by White supremacy" etc

I remember last year thinking “ok, awesome...a documentary about the history of video games. I can get my nostalgia fix and learn some interesting stuff along the way. This should be good viewing with minimal fukkery”.

First person interviewed was some tranny talking about how Pac-Man was therapeutic because when he/she played it was a world with no genders. I noped out of there and didn’t watch another minute.

Not the worst show of all time. It's trash romance novel made into television. The wokeness isn't too bad and they explain (briefly) why society in that time period is integrated (because King George fell in love with a black woman, thus elevating minorities to an equal status).

The blonde lead gets fully nude by episode 6, so it's not all bad.

No one complained when Hitler died at the end of Inglorious Basterds. So it's not like all media has to be historically accurate.

As someone else said, Netflix (as well as various other corporations) is global and they aren't just pandering to western audiences. Most of the world isn't white so you are going to have to get used to seeing more non-white people in media. Even if it is not historically accurate.

What did trigger me a bit though was in Witcher how they made Triss half black and Yennefer half Indian. It's a fictional universe, but it has source material and those characters are white in what is supposed to be a fantasy version of medievil eastern Europe.

I wasn’t outraged, just disappointed that I couldn’t even watch a special about the history of video games without the program being injected with woke social bullsh!t. Not sure what that has to do with my ability to entertain ideas without agreeing that they’re fact.


As far as the show being discussed here, I haven’t seen it so I don’t know if I’d like it or not. I was just commenting about how exhausting it is to have everything presented through a woke lens and laughing about people here saying there is agenda.

100% no racist but I have zero interest in watching something so forced as to have high society 50% mixed or non white people in an 1800s period drama, its just ****ing stupid.

Lets make a show in Japan in the 1930s about nothing but white american's speaking english everywhere because thats progressive

lets make a show about cartels ran by Chinese people but its in Mexico to be progressive

lets make a show about middle eastern people in a Moscow spy movie where most of the people are middle eastern wearing dresses to be progressive

I totally get it. I think there are many untold stories that should be presented to the masses instead of an interracial historical fiction story.

But it's really not about that. Shonda Rimes kills it with her female fanbase with her shows. It may not be for us but she's doing something right due to the success of the show.

I saw it, started halfway when the wife was watching. It’s trash, juvenile love story pandering to the ideal love/royalty/equality yadayadayada. It’s aimed at the young female base and that’s fine. You can see some agenda woke stuff peeking out but whatever, nobody is forcing you to watch. It’s mindless.

i guess i can see that

They should do more stuff like Django to be progressive. That was a badass movie and everyone could agree with the anti slavery and anti racism in that and it didnt have to be so farfetched and nothing was forced. This forced stuff just seems to me to be once again more harm than good because its like lets just make stuff up to cover terrible things that happened and change history.

Then again I also don't understand why a lot of people have issues watching other races/countries movies but it does seem to be a thing. A lot of people who arent "racist" cant stand watching Asian acted movies, like all the people who wouldnt even watch totally white washed Crazy Rich Asians because of its all asian cast. But you cant really change ignorance and its in all races.
