Bridgerton TV Show Netflix's most popular show to date (srs)

https://deadline.com/2021/01/bridger...er-1234681242/
The final numbers are in, and Season 1 of Bridgerton was watched by a record 82 million households around the world (partially or in its entirety.) That is a whopping 19M households higher than the four-week projection Netflix issued 10 days into the Shondaland series’ run (63 million), at the time the streamer’s fifth biggest launch in history.
Bridgerton, whose massive wave of popularity is showing no signs of subsiding, is now Netflix’s biggest series ever by a wide margin. It pushed down to No.2 previous record holder, fantasy hit The Witcher (76M in its first 28 days).

Apparently tokenism was a big thing in high society.
I'm just assuming that's what the tv show is about.

Im not denying black people existed in the UK at this period i just dislike the reason the shows obviously being praised and is on netflix, as they love the idea of making European history woke with intentional less white people.

I can't quote your guys posts for some reason but obv a couple of points before I have some lunch & go out are:
1) Its fiction.
2) its fiction
3) It doesn't matter if it doesn't represent western society because Netflix is global & 82 million people watched it so whatever they're doing its obv a winning recipe considering it even seems like you two brahs have seen the tv show.

You guys are no different than the softies who get triggered by other dumb siht.
It's a TV show, not real life. I like it and will watch next season. It's not rocket science. If you're into that genre of TV show, you'll like Bridgerton, If you're not, you won't. Simple...

Would it be okay then if we made a civil war drama which featured at times historical figures, like confederate generals robert e lee, portrayed by a black dude or the confederate army full of women and minorities? No because that is retarded and clearly never happened.
However its fine when its done in reverse. (especially in the UK which never had significant numbers of slaves on its shores).

Watching that show with my missus and her ma was awkward
Expected the "purists" to cry foul over the actors/racialist narrative, that's a classic. Show's fictional and doesn't attempt to come close to a historical drama or an accurate depiction of the time period, so JFL at ppl saying it's a "woke" narrative. It's more "Pride & Prejudice" with sex scenes that are -- honestly, too frequent and go on too long for my family viewing lmao.
Superstore is an excellent example of a Netflix show that handles the present cultural narrative and subverts expectations

Its popularity is the same as the Gray's Anatomy recipe: take some setting, insert relationship drama and gratuitous amounts of sex = profit from your viewers.
Bridgerton is not a serious stab at a Imperial English setting just as Gray's isn't a serious stab at a Medical Drama.

But, your example isn't viable here because the black guys character actually didn't exist (I assume) as a white guy or at all, historically speaking, like your Robert e Lee example. Thus, fiction.
