I honestly really did not know what to expect going into painting for the first time. I've also never really been any good at the visual arts. I'm a musician and I write music and that's my greatest passion in life. I will say, though, that this wet on wet style is very user friendly even for people who believe they can't, as you mentioned, even draw a stick figure. I'd really encourage you to give it a try and stick with it. As you can see from what I posted, progress is possible, even from the abomination that was my first attempt (lol).

It's fascinating how human perception changes as well. After my first attempt, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn'tTHATbad, but not great either. When my wife got home she said, "wow that's a lot better than I thought it was gonna be." When I had her inspect my new one yesterday and pulled out my first attempt, she made a face and laughed. We both discussed how bad it was and how much better my paintings had gotten.
