There was also one that was advertised as a cabin/cottage instead of a barndominium and the thing that stood out to me about that development was that they say they will have high speed internet which isn't available in a lot of rural areas. That one was west of Waco.

I rely on a space heater to stay warm since I live in an apartment without central air, so it's going to be rough. A space heater can't cope that well when it gets very cold. Honestly, right now it's in the low 20s and it's not that bad but on Monday when it gets down to 0° it might be awful. Running this space heater on high is going to cost me a lot as well.
I'm looking forward to the snow, though. We haven't had real snow down here in five years. I'm determined to take a walk when it's 10° out, partly to see the snow but partly just for the experience of seeing how miserable it will be.

They're kinda making a big deal out of the cold and low temperatures. Snow is a legit concern, but cold shouldn't really be a story. They're making it seem like people will walk outside in flip flops, catch hypothermia and freeze to death. And before you say what about the pets, it's 2021, pets eat at the dinner table lmao
With that said, hide your plants.

Batten down the hatches here just trying to stay warm. Good thing I’ve got the misc for added entertainment lol

And if you have drafty windows (I do) then it doesn't hurt to put some plastic over them. Dollar Tree has shower curtain liners that work alright. Could be a bit wider for this window, but at least it redirects the cold air down to the floor.

IMO there is more worry about things like cars and water pipes in the south because we aren't generally prepared for extended extreme cold. In MI we didn't cover the outside spigots. I think the construction is just different.

That's colder than it is here! Crazy. We've been getting snow a lot though. I liked it the first few snow storms, but I'm over it now. It can stop. lol
I just got my tootsies did the other night. Burgundy for my boyfriend (
) And wow, $1. at Marshalls for OPI? I'm going to have to go check out my local Marshalls. That's a great deal.

Stores were absolutely packed this morning. Kinda resembled hurricane preparedness..

Not sure if this is readable, but it is the pizza crust recipe from The Breadmaker's Apprentice. Calls for kind of cold flour and water and an oven as hot as you can get it (500) which is supposed to be preheated. Says it is best to make the dough the day before you bake your pizza. I think I can make that happen.

Not great .
Wednesday I was pulling wiring into college dorms and noticed the thermostat was set to 26 C , which is 78.8 F.
Go outside minutes later to drop Fiber optics for the splicer and it’s -24C , -11F .
So here I am going back and forth all day with temperature swings of practically 90 deg Fahrenheit.
Can’t imagine why I feel a bit crappy right now lol

Just lol @ you warm climate plebs. Our daily life up here would crumble your cities and kill millions.
Edit: most of Canada is experiencing a cold front. Some places are dropping down to -50c. Crazy stuff.
