Big Chill 2021

Having lived up north myself I know that extreme cold isn't that rare for a lot of miscers, but it hasn't dipped this far south in a minute.

In north TX we are supposed to have at least 7 days below freezing and record breaking low temps Tuesday and Wednesday.

Usually you can keep plants over the winter here with minimal protection (mine were on the covered porch). I don't think that will do it this time so they migrated.

Our weather forecasters are essentially telling everyone to stay home through Wednesday, bring your pets inside, and do everything you can to keep your pipes from freezing.

So how's your weekend shaping up?

Greek foot master race.
Egyptian foot. It is tapered and has the classic shape of a ladder with the big toe longest thank the second toe, the second toe longer than the third one and so on. According to the lovers of podomancy, people with this foot shape are concrete, rational, nature lovers and a bit moody.

Greek foot. This category includes the feet with the second toe longer than the big toe and the other 3 fingers are smaller, scaling down. It is reputed the most harmonious foot, so much to be called model foot. For the experts, who has a Greek foot is a person with a strong personality, very active, enthusiastic, always looking for stimulating activities.

Roman foot. It has a square shape, with the first three fingers that are roughly the same length while the fourth and fifth toes are slightly smaller. For podomancy fans, people belonging to this category are very pragmatic, reliable and reflective.

Germanic foot. The last 4 fingers are all the same length and are much smaller than the big toe. People included in this category are rational, concrete, do not like changes and always carry out a commitment made.

Celtic foot. A foot is thus defined if it has a tapered second toe that is very long, more than the big toe. For the experts, this is the category that includes curious people, brought to action and physical activity. Passionate and loyal to their partner.
ETA: Also it was in the 70s here last weekend. TX- not many places have wilder weather.

I'm near Conroe and the panic is setting in already. My job is broadcasting and they are having people stay in the emergency bunkers to have people there to keep all the channels going in case nobody at home can get to work.

My area is just coming out of the cold snap, it was consistently -30 to -50 Celsius with windchill for a week or a week and a half

Set a bunch of records but hitting -40 is standard here

So you did move to Houston. Still working on finding a ranch-ette to call home?

We had a special team when I worked for the broker-dealer. I was one of the admins who had to call around and book hotels and transportation for all of the staff who were drafted to be there no matter what. I think it wasn't so bad for them- put up in a hotel, driven to and from the office, catered lunch, and a per diem for dinner.

I'm thinking cooking stuff, crafts, board games, and maybe a jigsaw puzzle.

Not sure if this is readable, but it is the pizza crust recipe from The Breadmaker's Apprentice. Calls for kind of cold flour and water and an oven as hot as you can get it (500) which is supposed to be preheated. Says it is best to make the dough the day before you bake your pizza. I think I can make that happen.

Spoiler!

I will say make sure if your car isn't in a garage that you keep at least about half a tank of gas in it.

If you let your gas get too low it can/will freeze and you won't be able to start the car until it gets warmer out.

Also if your car is outside try and start it every day and let it run for a little bit.

You don't want things under the hood to start getting stuck.

Thanks. I thought I might DIY this weekend. The beauty supply had my fave color, but I just couldn't deal w/$13 for one bottle of nail polish. Happened to pop into Marshall's next door to see if they had any cute reusable tote bags because their's are nice for $1.

More my speed. Maybe testers or returns, but I don't plan to drink it.

Srs concerned a bit since my car is outside and the gasoline here isn't formulated for freezing temps like it is in MI. Close to empty so I'm planning to go fill up today.

I've been looking around for a while. I've seen a few different developers advertising acreage w/a partially finished building. The land for this one looked nice. Probably too far north for you.

https://www.dallasnews.com/sponsored...le-to-be-held/

There was also one that was advertised as a cabin/cottage instead of a barndominium and the thing that stood out to me about that development was that they say they will have high speed internet which isn't available in a lot of rural areas. That one was west of Waco.
