Lol @ savings srs
Lol @ keeping more than 1 month's expenses in cash
It's 2021 if you have an unexpected expense you can sell assets and have liquid cash in a single business day. Or just use a credit card and pay it off at the end of the month lol

My breakdown ATM is basically $12k emergency fund, $5.5k non-retirement investing, $45k retirement investing, my paid off car worth $15k, zero debts of any kind. I'm almost 26, a little late to the "non-retirement investing" game, but only because I kept focusing on paying off my student loans / car debt, and also buying some fun stuff in the interim like my gaming PC.
Plan is to keep doing the 401(k) match, and put all else into my non-retirement investing until it gets to be more than enough to cover a house/condo down payment. Preferably in 2023ish.

Just get an account with E-Trade or Vanguard or somewhere reputable like that. As much as I like the user interface of Robinhood, you should avoid that company for a lot of reasons I won't take the time to explain here. You can keep the value of maybe a couple months worth of expenses in the money market account for its quick liquidity if you want, but I would invest as much as possible in order to generate a return.

$10k in pathetic savings account with virtually no yield for emergencies. Everything else in broker account to invest. Anymore than 3 months expenses and you are wasting your money to inflation and letting it stagnate.

I have entirely too much money in my savings accounts right now. In fact, I went to the bank yesterday and the lady asked me what I do for a living.
In theory, this money should all be in my brokerage account, but I like keeping a separation so I can't make spontaneous stock trades. Will likely move it over eventually though, as having it in savings is a total waste.
Also, I have a 401k from a previous job like 6 years ago with ~$70k that I often forget that I have.
Maybe I should stop being such a cheap fuk, as I'm reaching the point where I shouldn't ever have to worry about money for the rest of my life. But people take you for a ride if you present yourself as a "I have as much money as we could possibly ever need" type of person.
