Hows your leg work OP? I trained with a commonwealth games qualifier for a while and didn't realise before then how important it is. Not just foot work, but bending the knees, pivoting the hips etc. You really do use your whole body.

Cant really tell much, bag is away too small, cant see the rest of ur body as well. But if you really wanna learn, get to a gym brah, you will just learn bad tendencies working alone, nothing wrong with doing it just to stay in shape, if that's what ure after tho.

First jabs looked decent from what I can tell.

Not bad OP, even just being able to throw straight shots and get your weight behind them as you're doing is probably better then 99% of people who've never trained before.

You should really look up some beginner drills though and work on them. Basic drills like step in jab, cross and step back out of range. You also need to learn to use your hips and rotate your shoulders to generate power. Look up some beginner bag drills, slow it down and tidy up your technique. That bag is too light for you to just wail on.

agreed with this serious.

also I have really bad experiences with hitting the bag without gloves but it probably has to do with what kind of bag but I have a recurring knuckle injury.

a lot of potential espcially for your weight brah gjdm

- get lighter on your feet (jump rope, shadowboxing)
- keep your guard up, especially when throwing your hooks, you completly drop your hands when throwing hooks
- don't push the bag when hitting, learn to whip first
You can't fight fate

not bad at all OP... I'm sure since the Misc is full of elite trainers like Freddie Roach, etc. you'll likely get a ton of 'advice'... I wouldn't listen to any of it. Keep doing what you're doing bro.

Nice bro. I boxed in college.

But get some wraps and bag gloves ASAP. Otherwise you’re going to break/sprain your wrists. If you want advice:

- Work on a high volume of fast/light/snappy strikes. None of that slow heavy stuff.
- hands up by your head at all times
- Fully retract your strike back to guard before you throw your next one.
- get a heavier bag

Sorry, fuk
Pretty decent for a beginner, but your moving all over the place way too much. where's the lead hook? try to get in the habit of ending a combo with your lead hand. Also try to make it at habit of breathing through your nose at all times. It might be uncomfortable at first but once you get it down u don't even have to think about it.

Better camera angle would be where we could see your whole body

I never had injuries or sprains with bare knuckle. Only time I sprain my left wrist is with gloves lol. Hitting the bag bare knuckle is good it conditions your hands and wrist, and helps you be more on target. Best to mix it up with big gloves and no gloves

Video needs to be further away/full body. You need to wrap your hands and wear gloves. All the "Conditioning" your hands stuff...I'm not sure if that's real or not but you're going to mess up your wrist or hands and they'll never be the same afterwards. It looks like your bag is too light. Do you have any formal training? Do you want to actually box/learn to fight or just get some exercise? If you want to learn to fight you should go to a gym because hitting a bag isn't going to make you better at fighting. Your punches need more snap. You need to bring your hands back to your face after each punch.

If you have no formal training it looks a lot better than most people, so I assume you have some, but then again you are asking for advice on the misc..... Work on footwork, find some footwork drills and maybe warm up with that before your bag work or when you finish.

A big thanks to those who said I need to practise drills. You are right, I need to do more footwork and combo work. But then you see guys like tank abbot and he just punches like I do! Lol, no combos or footwork! But I want to be a purist and enjoy the sweet science of boxing.

I have some training from when I was 19-21

Its been over a decade and recently fell back in love with the sport, particularly boxing and striking

Anyone know a good heavy bag stand to get and what weight heavy bag?

I think the snap back to the chin is overrated. If you are in range, then yes its mandatory, but not on every punch. Also if you notice I always keep my left up to my chin, the right hooks had zero guard because they were 3 in a row and then bounced away.

if you sprain your wrists it means you don't know how th throw punches in the right angle yet.

Srs answer here.

-Wrap your damned hands!

-Ideally I'd need to see your feet and hips to really analyze your form.

-You are flaring your elbow out a bit with the jab, but it looks alright.

-Your hooks need a lot of work. Looks like your wrist is headed for snap city.
You threw rear handed hooks. This is fine if you are in close and and square up to the right angle. Throwing a rear hand hook from range is goodnight sweet prince. Especially from that low angle you were throwing from. Looked a bit like you were trying Razor Ruddock's "Smash" but with the rear hand.

-I did like how you were trying to work the angles.

Overall, I never recommend to work the heavy bag by yourself as a beginner. It's going to cement some really bad habits in your technique. You should have a coach with you to spot and correct the errors.
You can shadow box by yourself using a mirror and being very conscious of keeping proper technique.

Boxing is awesome. Keep it up Brah!

Wow that was great detail, I will jot those points down and definitely work on my footwork and esp hooks. Re: the footwork, I will get a better set up. Was gonna purchase an old concept 2 rower (some local old guy giving it away for 200 bucks) but will sell the latpulldown and buy a proper heavy bag - then get better video

Just another thing, the guys at dripex saw my video and offered me the dripex standing bag? Thoughts on standing bags? Better than a boxing bag “stand”? Reason I ask is I think I can move around a standing bag better as the stand has the legs that get in the way....

I'm not a fan of those standing bags. They are fine for girls and children, but a grown man will knock them all over the place. Just got to Amazon and watch the video reviews. Some of them say it's sturdy but then when they demonstrate, you see them throwing weak punches and the thing is still ready to tip over.

If they contacted you, I'm guessing it's a bribe to get a good review. Not worth it man. Keep your integrity. If they want a sponsor let them pay you real money rather than a a free $150 paper weight.

Awesome man, I thought as much. What if I fill it with like 80kg of sand? The base I mean.

Either way leaning towards a heavy bag stand, think it will be okay even with the legs
