Thanks for the advice/ideas everyone. Another long work day, definitely need to try to find more ways to destress. I run a lot and that's been helping after a long work day, but sometimes there's no time for a run. Love my job but not loving the lack of work/life balance right now

Get enough sleep. Think about why you are working this hard. If your reasons aren’t enough to support your convictions, you should consider taking a step back. The best (and often the most annoying) part of going beyond what is expected of you is having a good reason to do so.

Sadly, noIn the 100's but it's still a ton of money to me lol. I enjoy the job despite the amount of work. Just really tired, I'm learning at rapid speed though so hopefully it pays off in the future.

Do you really want to sacrifice all those areas for your career and money? Short term this can make sense if you have some sort of financial plan to gain a better lifestyle in medium term by semi retiring or starting a business or scaling down to a more manageable job etc.

But if you have no financial plan to get out of your high stress career and you are planning this careermaxxed lifestyle for long term - really think through your goals and if you really want to sacrifice the other areas of your life to career/money.
Out of curiosity, would you give the same advice to a bald manlet who wants a life partner?

Well i hope youre getting something out of the job because it definitely isnt compensation.

100k is what a bartender makes now in big cities (srs)

so it better be that this job youre doing is a brand name (mbb consulting, or gs/citi/ms type of gig) which will help you demand a higher salary in the future otherwise youre wasting your time.

Wow, I agree with SS.

OP, why are you working such chitty hours? Is it also possible you might not truly love your job?

i mean she has clearly chosen her path in life (wagesslavemaxxing) so she might as well be compensated accordingly.

14 hrs/day for 100k is seriously poverty status tho. im not even miscstatting 100k really isnt alot of money anymore. it aint the 1980s anymore.

def not.

even worse than 50k because the marginal value of your time increases the less of it you have.

14 hrs a day is 8am-10pm. lets be honest dinner and netflix 1 hr, then shower and fist yourself before bed then wake up eat breakfast and cake makeup on your face to do it all again.

14 hrs/day might as well be 24 at that point.

Hope she gets to put a goldman sachs like name on her resume otherwise its a gigantic waste of time.

I truly do enjoy my job, it keeps me on my toes and I love solving problems. As stressful as it can be, it's very rewarding work as well. I think redraider can provide more input since we're in the same career field but it sounds like she's been in it for much longer than I have. For more junior folks like myself, the "grind" is pretty normal in consulting. The busy days has been sporadic though, we have unlimited time off and so I try to take 1-2 Fridays off a month on top of holidays. I also have several weeks when I'm in between projects or around the holidays that I take off for real vacations. It's really not as bad as I'm making it sound, have just been putting in more hours than normal and I wanted to complain a little haha.

I'm actually in a pretty good spot financially and can find another job if I wanted to, but I feel like this fast paced environment is for me.

I live in a low/moderate cost of living area, so 100k+ in just base salary alone goes a very long way. And yeah, it's in consulting.

Eat all the candy
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

it doesnt to normal people.

Wage cucks are a special breed. they have some sort of deficiency in their early childhood likely from an absent unloving parent. they try and compensate and fill the void inside of them by wageslavemaxxing. by building their self worth on a successful career they can "show" their aloof parent that they truly are worthy of llove. they think with a fancy Wharton MBA or if they make MD at Goldman the emptiness inside that they feel will subside.

Sounds like typical corporate life. Deadlines are deadlines, and you’re expected to meet them. Even the most generous companies in terms of benefits and PTO will expect you to deliver. An occasional 14 hour shift isn’t so bad if you are close to a go-live period regarding your project.

Ahh I see. In that case, make some ginger tea, throw some honey in there and remind yourself it's a temporary setback while you drink that chit.
