Was fishing for white crappie today, a type of panfish. A monster is 17", average 8-10". Four keepers this morning, and seven yesterday.
The hole pupper fell into. You can see even the rock was too steep for a little dog to climb out on. The ice melts around rocks near shore first. The exposed rocks attract they heat from the sun, and cause open holes.
Water is pretty clear, but its just under 3 feet deep there. More than enough for a miniature schnauzer to get in trouble. Ypu can se the edge is broken off a bit on the right. Probably went for a drink and leaned front paws on the fresh thin ice that froze last night, it gave way and plop.
