It definitely isn't nostalgia as half the old games I play I have never played before, and I have always kept up with the industry over the years. They were simply making a better variety of games in the past and the games just aren't as good as they used to be.

Yeah there is still some great stuff out there but you really need to sift through all the chit to find it. Thing is there has always been chitty games out there, but the difference is that now a days a lot of the big promoted games are chit. It seems like lots of genres have gone ignored and others have become cash grab schemes meant to milk the fans with season upon season of DLC passes n chit, I know that is definitely the case with fighting games and online FPS these days.

The industry is just greedy as hell these days, and it seems like the people making these games have become increasingly out of touch, the consumers increasingly stupid, fanboyish, and out of touch in their own way.

I still like the idea of playing them if that makes sense. But when I actually start playing them, I get bored very easily and am over it after an hour or two, if that.

I can play MMOs all day. Latest interest has been ESO. I'll often recently find myself allocating several hours on workdays to play it, and on off days sometimes even 10+ hours. Love a game with a community, a grind, metrics/parsing for comparing and showing off one's skill, and content that feels worthy of exploration.

Any other game outside of MMOs and I can hold interest for several hours before wanting to do something else still... more if I'm playing with friends.

As a kid and young adult, I was all about FPS games. Damn near flunked out of a college one semester because all I did every night was camp out on a server waiting for people to show up to frag.

For some reason, after I graduated and got a Real Job, spending time playing video games lost their appeal. Much like everybody else in this thread, I'd play for like half an hour and then lose interest.

Nowadays, the only games I play regularly are simracing titles. I got a full triple monitor simracing rig (tho sometimes I also race in VR) with actual car seat, three pedal set, H-pattern shifter, handbrake, and a tactile tranducer to simulate car vibrations. I usually just hop in it, take the simcar for a few laps, then hop out and then go do something else. My ADD never gets a chance to kick in.

I also play classic arcade games in MAME on occasion. Classic arcade games were designed for the player to need to constantly pump in quarters, so they don't typically last long either.

If they put more focus on the story rather than the graphics I could get back into them. Games are way too repetitive and money grabbing these days.

Current video games yes, normies making it a culture and greed killed modern gaming. I still play a good few old games and some indie games now and then. Playing wow classic on and off and diablo 2 atm.

Everybody cool and who ended up half successful gave it up in high school completly

The people who failed to give it up and still game hard core are the losers living in a dumpy apartment in a rough part of town ( not to mention fat )probably working some lame ass factory job etc

Because all the hours they could have spent advancing themselves get wasted on a game they are addicted to.

the things i'm able to do while retired make gaming kinda dull. i do find the 3d mario game on the switch to be really fun. nintendo makes the greatest games. that said outside of mario i find playing single player games depressing.

I bought the PS5 and have basically only bought 1 game for it; Godfall which was a disappointment.

So I have just been gaming Warzone and CoD 4 Remastered - old games on a brand new console.

Only games I am waiting for now are God of War Ragnarok and the new Ratchet & Clank coming in June. That's all

Games just aren't that good anymore combined with the fact that we all are getting older
