I don't know that people worship him, but he has accomplished more in his life than any modern human: Tesla, SpaceX, Neural Link, the Boring Company, StarLink. How many other people have done that much?

As much as I think humanity deserves to be wiped out by an asteroid.... got to give it to him, whats he's achieved is beyond astonishing.

Both seem like unwarranted reactions. Always confused when I see people having such strong opinions about him, but in my experience, the people who hate him are the bigger *******s that get offended by the wind.

He overrates himself with PR when he mostly just uses his ego to act like everyone else is inferior to him. Common with higher class immigrants.

Human beings won't make it through, but maybe that's a good thing seeing as we are the cause of the climate change.

Sounds like a self correcting problem to me.

AFAIK most of the world's pollution isn't coming from suburban homes or heating them. And if it is then cut off the natural gas, easy. People can huddle up in blankets.


But the reality is nobody wants to admit that pollution and environmental damage is caused by corporations. The lumber industry and coal mining industry barely employs anyone and yet I bet their Co2 emissions are high.

Elon is definitely not a “regular joe”. Have you heard the guy talk? He has knowledge of many different fields, you can tell he’s incredibly smart, and then look at his degreees. He’s anything but average.

The notion that Elon has been at 8 different successful companies and that they’re only successful because of the people that work for him are laughable. Why don’t they start their own companies?

Elon didn’t start Tesla btw. For him to get to where he is now required at least some smart maneuvering. And all these companies are incredibly profitable based on luck?

As for the OP, I think he’s so popular due to his wild success, candidness/cheekiness on social media, and the difference he’s (trying to) make. Time will be the ultimate judge, but it’s hard to argue that what he’s doing isn’t impressive

But he's done a bit better than others.

Remember Mark Cuban sold "radio on internet" to Yahoo for a billion or something except it didn't work very well and nobody used it. He barely did anything since other than buy NBA teams and do reality TV like the Shark Tank.

At some point when you have so much money / capital it's impossible to lose it. The guys you hear going from riches to rags only had 7 figure or low 8 figures wealth not $500+ million.

Pretty much everything Elon is doing was airing on Star Trek and other SF back in the 1980s. Guess what was one of his favorite shows as a kid? Literally Star Trek in addition to others.


He just happens to be the first billionaire with a real hard on for science fiction and throwing money at that direction. Whereas old billionaires don't seem to have that level of obsession with science fiction stuff?
