Movies always trumps tv. They thought it was their big break. Real big phuck up in hindsight lol.

A lot of the blame needs to go on the producers that let them wrap up what should have been another few seasons of plot at least in 6 episodes. That was never going to work.

There were two issues, first of which was GRRM literally doing everything in his power to not complete the series. I'm pretty sure he did everything but write the remaining two books. So when GoT got to Season 7 & 8, there was no more source material to go off of and they had to get cliffs from GRRM as to how it would turn out. So what you got was this rushed ass plot line with no intertwining stories because they were purely ripping from the books and not making their own stories. So GoT first came out in 2011, which is when GRRM finished his 5th book. So based on his timelines, you'd have expected the 6th book to come out in 2017 and then the final 7th book in 2023. However, once the show came out and everyone loved it, he spent his time in the spotlight and doing other projects instead of finishing what he started. So the 7th season pulls some material from the still unreleased 6th book which is why it was better than season 8, but still rushed. Then Season 8 was purely legit cliff notes of a book he didn't even start to write. Realistically had everything worked out, there would have been around at least 10 full seasons of Game of Thrones if not more. GRRM has continuously promised the next book for years and years and still blows every deadline he sets. So the real fault comes down to him for not finishing what he started and then coming out later saying there was more to make.

The second issue was with the massive impact of GoT, the directors were highly sought after since GoT was dope. However, this series was ripped from the books, so outside of the cinematography, the plot lines were already there for them to pull from and make adjustments as needed. So now you had all these studios begging for their services and they settled on a deal with Star Wars to produce a new trilogy of three movies, which wasn't the Mandalorian as mentioned before, but I think it's related to the High Republic movie coming out. So instead of taking their time to finish GoT properly, they rushed it so they could get to Star Wars sooner. However, couple the lack of material and it coming down to them to decide the plot lines, it failed miserably and it showed that when they are responsible for creating new content, they suck without a guideline to follow. So once that those seasons flopped, Disney quietly cut ties with them as did most other studios and then Netflix offered them a huge deal since Netflix is clamoring for content. Their shows or Netflix to date you say? A show about an english department chair at a university that's 6 30 minute episodes, a movie about two kids starting a heavy metal band to win Battle of the Bands at their high school, and then you guessed, two series based on previous books of "The Overstory" and "Remembrance of Earth's Past".

My only hope is that when the books do get finished, maybe, just maybe HBO pulls another Snyder-Cut and refilms the series as it was intended. My real worry is that GRRM will eat himself to death before he ever finishes the series and it will be left unwritten, which would be a shame to everyone. I'm pretty much convinced that he's spent so much time not writing, that he continually needs to go back and read what he wrote just to remind himself of the plot lines, which is causing the delay.

In my opinion if the show went the way it did and Jon Snow went North, that one day years down the line. He ventures as far north as possible til he hits the end. It's a massive ice cliff down below. He hasn't seen his family in years or heard from them, he hasn't been with his north pals in a while. He's with Ghost who is old and weary now. He lets Ghost run free to live in the woods, and he approaches the cliff prepared to jump off into the blizzard depths below him. Suddenly you hear a loud screech and Drogon comes up from the cliff and hovers over Jon, the dragon is massive, and it comes down. Jon hops on and they fly off into the sky. The credits roll and after the credits you see Jon on Drogon, and they are flying through the blizzard like sky. They descend down through the clouds and it's a bright red sky, with towers and castles, an abandoned Targaryen outpost of sorts, and there's dragons flying all around, and boom, cuts to black. At least this opens up for a potential future to the show way down the line, like years and years later. Maybe Jon coming back after a decade after the Kingdom runs itself into ruin or some chit, idk.

Dont know a single person who cares about the prequels now either.

I started reading the first novel towards the end of the show because i was such a fan and wanted to read the unread novels gmmr had planned.
Dropped it so fast lol. Fuk got

I don't think Martin has any interest in finishing the books and don't think he ever will.

how tf did HBO let retards like DnD cuck them so hard?

HBO clearly wanted the show to go on and would have easily let it go 12+ seasons but instead they allowed DnD to severely gimp it. why? was their contract really THAT ironclad?

seasons 5,6, and 7 could have all been 2 seasons each based on current source material so i dont buy the “ran out of material” bullchit. if they would have used the actual material to its fullest extent then by the time they actually ran out of material GRRM would have at least have most of Winds of Winter finished.

Seriously, we should be about to start season 10 right now, still bot touching Winds of Winter.

I honestly dont get why the wouldnt just come out and say “we ****ed up, season 7 and 8 are cancelled” and just re-do it. it would make them a fortune. Only thing i could see is that maybe they wouldnt be able to get the full cast back? but lets be real, those actors would come crawling back.

Bro this makes me rage like nothing else I swear. For the entire show, Arya was fixated on revenge. Her arc had nothing to do with White Walkers, she had never seen one or cared. Meanwhile it was Jon's entire story and all he cared about.

Yet they let Arya finish off the Frays and avenge the Red Wedding as well as end the White Walker threat while Jon spends Season 8 running around like a useless cuck. He even gets outcast in the end to live the rest of his life in solitude lmfao. God damn I hate what this show did to me.

Can't even rewatch this BS because in the beginning at the first sight of the Walkers, instead of feeling terror and dread, all I could think is how these demigods of destruction were taken out in 1 second by a goofy knife trick from a tiny girl.

I think Season 8 could have been great with a couple more episodes and a change in the very end. GRRM is the real one to blame. DnD came into that thing thinking they were gonna get a finished storyline, but the dude couldn't come up with a way to finish the story.

If the guy who created these characters can't come up with an ending, but has some chitty outline of how it does I'd be ready to leave also.

nah they still rushed it. there was plenty of existing material to get through at least 10 seasons. but instead of respectively handing it off when they couldnt hack it any more they sabotaged it themselves

Not gonna happen. Apparently there was a stupid contract that only dumb and dumber could film and release and Game of Thrones episodes. Also, the actors are older now and are doing their own projects. It would be near impossible to get them together again.

Still can’t believe how fast GoT disappeared from the public consciousness.

They really just need to reboot it with an animated series or something. They aren’t getting the original actors back so that it probably the only way to fix it.

Idk another 2-3 episodes to flesh out how Danny turned full mad queen, have some actual main characters die during the white Walker battle, then completely change who sits on the throne, and you already have instantly better Season

Attack on Titan spoilers below:

Just watched the entire series and I felt AoT is good but not fantastic. As a non natural anime fan, the show really did drag alot with exposition and dilogue. I get it's an anime thing but it's still a gripe of mine. Also I felt like the entire concept of being a show based on people instantly turning into giant monsters is too far fetched. Then when they got into the history of the lineage and bloodlines that could transform and so on, it kinda spoilt the mystery of Titans for me even more.

Still enjoyed the hell out of it, don't get me wrong, I just felt like I'd have been more interested if the Titans had powers but were not secretly humans. I wanted them to be their own faction and humans had to defeat them while dealing with their own conflicts and political schemes.

I've been wondering that, too.

They wanna leave, fine. But how could HBO give in this hard when they could have had another 2 seasons at least?

This, too. They killed the rewatchability.

S4 is still tight because of Oberyn but yeah. Phuck rewatching the whole thing.

Thats the worst thing. They fuked it up so hard that you just can’t rewatch it. The opening scene of the show is teasing the white walkers for Christ’s sake. Not to mention all of those epic scenes with Jon beyond the wall. I will never be able to get over how they brought all of the big name heroes, the white walkers, and all of the magic swords together in Winterfell and they didn’t have a single one of them fight each other.

With Star Wars, there is no source material since Disney prefers to create their own universe and there is no GRRM. George Lucas is out and Dave Filoni is an overrated hack. There’s no way DND would’ve made a good Star Wars movie.
Source material is pretty irrelevant for popcorn cinema like Star aside of a couple of dorks reading EU novels. The first Star Wars movie didn't have much source material either. When they started filming Obi-Wan, Vader and Luke were still supposed to be one person. It's just a generic heroes journey, but done really well. D&D couldn't write great source material for it, but it's not needed to.
What Star Wars needs is stringing together interesting action scenes with places, that look cool and unique(chase in that asteroid field with that giant worm thing, fight on Jabba luxurious ship, guerilla battle in Endor) using a rather thin story to somewhat tie these together. This is exactly what they did in season 7(fight with undead icebear, rescue mission using the ice dragon). It was dumb, bur it looked cool, which is exactly what Star Wars is.

And they absolutely rushed and nuked the last season to the point where the entire show is now un-watchable. We just went through a pandemic where everyone was forced to be at home and I don't know a single person who re watched it lol.
Yuuuuup.

I'm probably going to get my father to watch through it since he's enjoying The Last Kingdom so much, but 100%. They didn't just kill their Golden Goose, they publicly tortured it for an entire year until the crowd was begging them to show mercy and end it.

Completely obliterated what could have been nine or ten figures of ongoing value in the property.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Amazon have pretty much confirmed they're doing a safe space, socially inclusive Middle Earth series that won't be based on anything Tolkien wrote.

I mean it's not like they're stuck for inspiration, they've got the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Children of Hurin etc as source material.

Speaking of Sanderson, it looks like the Wheel of Time adaptation is going to be terrible too.
