I've also agonized over where to go for a new laptop.
My wife's recently stopped coming on at all but it was 12 years old.
It is quite a problem as we search because there's a plethora of choices to study & research.

So....a week ago I bit the bullet and ordered a Dell laptop online and got it in a couple days.
We have a long history with Dell and I have no complaints with previous purchases.
I got through all the initial protocols and there really wasn't any program bloat which surprised me.
It came to just over 600$ but that included updating my Word/Excel/Powerpoint programs.
