I remember it was like walking down a spiral staircase along the edge of a deep circular room and at the bottom everyone is dancing and it was so cool walking down into that.

Yeah Houston is part of the Texas Triangle AKA the Texaplex which is one huge area with all the main cities and most of population.

It's a lot like BosWash which is the Northeast megalopolis.

Agree w/ bolded. Fall and winter are really really nice in Houston. There are like 5 days (not necessarily consecutive, just based on if a cold front comes through) where you might be tempted to wear a jacket, but most of the time it is not necessary.

With that said, and I am speaking objectively, Houston is not necessarily a desirable place to live (unless you are comparing it to some other non-FL place in the south). It is a place that ppl live because it has really really good jobs / economy and ppl can hold their nose in order to collect a nice paycheck. Not throwing shade on Houston, just trying to be transparent.

Good jobs and economy are exactly what makes a place desirable.

If you are the type to hold your nose at city life then you are better off in the suburbs, every major city is like this.

Definitely throwing shade.

If you're from NJ I will say it's hot as hell and there are not four seasons. The seasons are hot, very hot, and Texas cold. Texas cold is like your Spring up North.

It also has the top universities and of course the international corporations. There are also big rodeos and football games as well as good food. Zoning is crazy and traffic is a bitch, my brother is from Houston.

Just don't drive up the damn rent, and make an effort to connect with the community. Figure you wouldn't have a hard time adjusting to a big Southern city coming from NJ. Y'all are alright, generally tough and hard working people it seems from NJ. Biggest shock for you would be the heat.

ayy thanks bro. I think the change in weather will be the most drastic thing that changes. I like to garden so a new climate gives me a whole new range of things I can grow lol. We have visited a lot of the south east and always enjoyed our time down there.

Im an Engineer but I do oversee a lot of construction/machinery in a warehoused area, yard for materials and equipment. Its done in phases, so I have plenty of office time as well. I've done lots of road trips so we figured it would be a good base to do some more, driving isn't an issue for me.

The wife and I spent a night in Amarillo, it was a nice night but we deff stuck out when went for mexican food lol. We both travel often so it doesnt bother us. I went to Rutgers and I have lived in that general area my whole life, I am a bit closer to NYC now but you got NJ spot on. I do lots of work in south jersey and it might as well be a different state sometimes.
