62, had plumbing and electrical heart issues - fixed. have some chronic diseases. Tinnitus 24x7 from playing in R&R and Punk bands when I was younger. Probably will work until 67 although I'm considering retiring earlier since the retirement investments are 7 figures now. Slowly loosing weight. Play traditional Irish music with friends a few times a week. It's nice hearing applause (never get tired of that). Cooking and baking skills are on point. Starting to sell off some hobbies as I don't want the family to have to deal with it when I croak. Keeping the mind active by learning Russian. Have become involved with a group of 20 year old something Russians who are very creative and very cool, will travel there for a visit once the Covid stuff settles down (this summer or next). Kids are done with college and are doing well. Home almost paid off. Wife is building a house in Thailand so we can hang there when it's cold. Keeping the body active by hiking, solo camping, fly fishing, TRX, kettlebells, and sand bags.

Then the next year not so great to bad [new routine spending time in two homes and ex was dating serious GF #1, then my mom was very ill/died]. My ex had her meeting and spending time w/at least 3 or 4 of his GFs, two of which had children that she got attached to before the grown ups broke up. Then the year after that was COVID/online starting in the winter. Last year was all online school and she didn't finish the second semester because her father died.

For real it has just been too much. Thinking GED or some such. Talked to her about art courses at a college if/when we get settled somewhere. She was in the art magnet program at her high school and it's such a shame that she didn't get to go in person.

If you were on the cusp of 40 again, what would you change about the way you lived the last decade?

From my perspective at 62 I guess I'm very lucky, I don't have any serious health problems. The only thing is an enlarged prostate so my waterworks can be a pain at times. But that's a common thing for older guys.
But I don't get any grief otherwise and can still do anything I could do when I was in my twenties and pleased to still have decent muscle mass.
Jobs good, hope to retire in a couple of years, maybe earlier if I get the golden handshake!
Life's has been very good to me and I never take it for granted!

Have been fighting pulled/strained muscles in my back for the last couple of months. Still working out ~3 days per week. Wish I could play golf more. Hopefully, once this back is not bothering me as much, I'll get back out on the course.

No plans for retirement. Am a partner in the business I also work at. Plus, oldest starts college next year and she's planning to go out of state. Youngest will start HS next year.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Turned 53 in Jan. Nothing has changed for me and I'm still doing the same things I've always done. I work part time and I've got some nice hobbies that I keep busy with. I don't have any health issues, no aches, no pains, no meds, etc...

I can't say it will always be this way but so far it's all good.

I don't know about 30's or 40's, but I would have told my college-graduating 22 year old self that you can't keep eating fast food and drinking nothing but soda and beer if you're going to have a desk job and not work out ever. Spending my 20's getting fat was the one mistake I'd want to correct. I didn't realize how bad it was or how far behind the 8-ball I was until after my son was born in my early 30's.

I'm going to be 53 in April and I feel great. I'm healthy AF and aging great.

Lol at retiring. I'll prob have to work full time until I die unless I win the lottery.

For fun I lift, spend time with boyfriend and with my son. He still comes over every Sunday for dinner and a movie or to binge a show. We also go to as many rock concerts as we can. We love them.

My back does not hurt on a normal basis. Every blue moon I'll tweak it and it'll be sore for a day but goes away pretty quickly. (Hoping I didn't just jinx myself lol)

I did not expect to be where I am at at this stage of my life. I expected to be married for the rest of my life as I took my marriage vows pretty seriously. But life had other plans and here I am. Making the best of it.

Wow that's terrible your ex was introducing your daughter to casual partners. I can't stand it when parents do that to their children. It's so unfair. And also can relate to what your daughter went through after the divorce. My son had a super rough time that first school year. We started him seeing a therapist and worked really hard to get him back on track and thankfully it worked. I hope your daughter gets back on track soon. My son hates online schooling, this Covid chit has really screwed up a lot of our kids regarding school. My friends daughter had a full scholarship for community college and ended up dropping out a little into her 2nd year because of it being online.

My best advice is to stay active, lift and exercise. Eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle. Minimum alcohol, no drugs. Drink tons of water, try to get enough sleep.

Late 80’s baby here but I have so many questions…
Guess I can take up some bandwidth....

I'm 74.

Retired in Dec. 2010....every day is a good day, it's attitudes that are bad.....I wrote/recorded this song within two weeks after my retirement.

(Thanks to any that stop by and give it spin)

For enjoyment....I'm an old musician/band member and I write/record my own material.No...I have no fan base, and 'fan' is singular....it's embarrassing.

I'm just elated I've lived long enough to retire with a good wife that also retired (4) years ago.

Carry on....

The best part about this age? I give zero fcks and am at peace with myself.

Work on your relationships. Keep in contact with friends and take time on a regular basis to reach out to old friends. I moved a lot in my life, lived overseas, and have friends and relatives on all continents. I lost track of many of them and have been spending the last decade reconnecting with as many as I can. I wish I had done this much earlier. Besides eating well and staying active keep mentally active and try to connect with people of any age. A friend introduced me to Russian literature and now I read a lot of the classics and more moderns stuff, including poetry - things I was never interested in when I was younger. It's amazing how many ladies dig poets )) Be the shark and don't stop swimming. The young people I've been fortunate enough to connect with keep me young. I don't judge and they like to take advantage of my experiences. It's a win-win situation. Just stay engaged.

Hit the half century officially this month. Honestly it's a pretty sweet time. Need to be more circumspect about proactive de-loads and chronic inflammation but otherwise workouts are still fun and rewarding. I'm on zero medications with excellent health markers on all the yearlies. My kids are all legal adults and doing well, so I have the freedom and the finances essentially to do what I want. It's really a prime time for enjoying life when you still have your energy and health, but also the resources and accumulated life maturity to appreciate it more.

just turned 50 last month.
not retired.
IDK haven't thought about it. I work in technology from home and i enjoy my job.

I hang with friends, go to parties, festivals, whiskey shows, weekend trips, biking, back packing...ect. A lot less because of covid and wearing a mask all the time sucks donkey dic so i avoid.

Only time my back hurts is when i'm cutting up logs on the ground with a chainsaw or using a shovel. Though i f'd up my knee over the summer doing.. something no idea what and I just keep aggravating it like slipping on the ice so sometimes it hurts a little. doesn't really stop me from doing anything though.

never thought about where i'd be at 50 to be honest.

While it's preferable to the alternative, being 30 was much better.

Could dunk a basketball in college. Haven't been able to touch the rim for 10 years.

I have a lot more daily pain.

It seems harder to recover from gym.

Metabolism has slowed way down. Maintenance is only 2300cal

Cock works great.

Will work till dead probably.
