turn the kettle on. While water is heating up I press the button on my OXO burr grinder (8-10 seconds). Dump ground coffee into pot. When water is heated pour into pot of french press. Put on top. Wait 5 minutes for coffee to steep, Press plunger on press and then pour. Perfect cup every time.
For something closer to espresso I change he settings on my burr grinder and fill with Italian roast coffee and a fine grind. Then I grind coffee, put it into my Moka pot. Place on stove and heat until it's done - nice cup of espresso (Ok it's not perfect espresso because it's only being made at 1-2 bar of pressure, real espresso machines operate at higher pressures).
This process (either) takes about as much work as making drip coffee. Freshly ground beans are the key.
