I grew up in working class, I'm not delusional. What's wrong with my post? I specified "upper middle class" lifestyle.

Most people are lazy, dumb, etc. I don't calibrate myself against "most people". I look at the 1% (I'm not talking financially), learn from them.

You should learn from this guy and aspire to be better.

Saw a survey recently of retired people (aged 60's and 70's) who considered themselves 'wealthy'.... The average investment portfolio was like $360,000, with a paid-off house.

To me that seemed really low, but retirees barely spend any money, so I guess it works out after u factor in social security.

Thats not that bad, usually at the age you should have everything paid off so your expenses shouldnt be that much unless you are blowing 50k+ a year on crap.

I think it is a matter of no debt. Also, keep in mind this survey was for their own perception of lifestyle.

$10mil is glittering rich. You could pay yourself $400k/year indefinitely.... If you had no debt, no dependents, and paid yourself $400k..... I mean, jesus christ.

Edit: perhaps also pensions? I have no idea lmao. My grandfather had a pension he never needed, paid off house, and a big portfolio.... Lived like a middle class pleb. He was a full baller tho.
