Ida is looking like it could be quite a catastrophe. If it comes in just west of NOLA, that would bring the worst surge into the city. It'll be interesting to see how the new $50 billion flood walls/levees hold up. Wouldn't be surprised to see this make it to cat 5 in these conditions in the gulf. Looks like it's in a pretty good shape after crossing Cuba, it'll be rapid intensification from here on out.

Yeah, that is what they just said on the DFW news; could come in as a Cat 5.

Also:

Ida is hitting NOLA on the 16th anniversary of Katrina.

Katrina hit shortly before my daughter was born. One of the guys in my ex's band was from LA and went out there to help them. A lot of people from NOLA moved in to DFW and Houston and never went back.

Wonder if we will see a repeat of that? DFW is pretty expensive now compared to then. Houston not quite as much. Most affordable is East TX, West TX, or far South TX- like down by the US-Mexico border.

I think we’re about to absolutely see a repeat of Katrina.

Also, I know they were bussing people from New Orleans (Superdome and the Convention center) after Katrina hit to DFW, Huston and other towns in TX. Those poor folks were never able to put together the funds to make it back.


A feeder band just came through and kicked my ass already this morning…it’s going to be a long day and because I am weak ****g I can’t get my flag poll down…InB4 it turns into a projectile and skewers me.
