That being said, this 61 year old fat dude I've got today came in a month ago for difficulty breathing with covid, and ended up on a breathing machine (not vent). Then his breathing got worse as the pneumonia destroyed his lungs, the panic sets in, and he is told the only thing left is intubation.

He was uncooperative the entire time people were trying to help him. Totally clueless about how serious his situation is, then after making his situation worse, absolutely refused to be intubated for several days because he says it is a death sentence. He's not completely wrong either, because only the young survive intubation with covid pneumonia. The problem is if the lungs are damaged beyond a certain point, intubation is the only thing that can be done to get oxygen into the blood. Instead of being informed he relied on conspiracies and thinks there's another way out, but there isn't at that point

He's been here a month now and since then he's been intubated, proned and paralyzed multiple times and is not getting any better. He's going to die along with the other 95% of people intubated with covid pneumonia. He's too old for ECMO so he'll stay in a drug induced coma on the vent until his lungs recover (not likely) or he gets trached, pegged and sent to a nursing home as a vegetable. And that's best case scenario unless his family decides to "pull the plug"

The point I'm trying to make is the denial and lack of knowledge before intubation shows that they didn't look into the facts of this virus before making a decision not to get vaxxed. These are not healthy people like vast majority of you. I don't know why they would risk it but there's no take backs when they end up in the ICU.
I don't get why he has to be pegged before sent to the nursing home? Doesn't seem like he consented...

Woah, I just checked back on this. You guys take things way too personal. All I'm saying is people get misinformation, then make a decision they end up regretting and there is no going back. I didn't say everyone should stick 3 vaxes up there a$$ but if you weigh 300 pounds and lose your breath ordering food, than maybe you're not as healthy as you think.

Obviously this doesn't apply to most of you so chill out. Im not encouraging you yo get vaxxed and I only got vaxxed because I had to for work. But If you're unhealthy, obese, and start dying from covid don't show up to the hospital talking conspiracies and expect it to keep you alive. That isn't even you're typical unvaxxed patient but it's weird when it happens because no one wants to go out like that. Some of you guys are sensitive af, jeeze.

So your point is that being 300 lbs is a more important variable than receiving endless jabs?

Young healthy people DO NOT die of COVID.

Young immunocompromised people die WITH COVID.

As to the vaccine issue- you're presuming a lot of things in saying it's silly not to get them. I could give you professional (insurance/disability claim) and personal (employee, parent, friend) experience that make it abundantly clear to me that they aren't "safe and effective". But you'd just dismiss that out of personal bias.
No one knows how safe these vaccines are in the long term and they are clearly not that effective in the long term or they wouldn't need boosters, but If you saw the same kind of people show up and die over and over again it makes sense to suggest they weigh their options according to their risk.

I'm not hating on the dude specifically for not getting vaxxed, but he clearly didn't want to die. He thought he was healthier than he was and took the risk. Then when it gets serious, he's looking for alternatives when there aren't any at that point.

This is exactly why I posted this. Seeing people die because they can't get trustful info, then forced to pick one extreme over another. If this dude had accurate info he could make an informed decision, then whether he dies or not at least he'll know it was his own decision and not some conspiracy.

Lol, you didn't have to neg over that. We always have people prone themselves in the beginning. This guy did for a while and actually got much better, then he refused cause it is uncomfortable. If he kept going he might have made it, but more often than not it's not enough and they get worse anyway.

All covid pts have to use a commode in their room so they don't contaminate the rest of the hospital. I can def see nurses getting salty for not doing what they want, though.

Is any sort of early treatment provided to those who come in with covid? This should be an apolitical question, as it would apply to those who have taken the covid jabs, and those who have not. How sick was this man when he showed up in the ICU? How many days did he have covid? Are there any antivirals you can give these patients, or had he progressed past that stage?

My friend's stepdad recently died of covid, he was fully vaccinated, and the first thing many people said when they found out is that he should have been vaccinated, in a condescending manner. When they found out he was, they immediately change their tone and say something along the lines of: at least that's all that could have been done. What a ****ing joke.
I'm not really crying or trying to dehumanize him. Just seeing this happen again and again gets frustrating, on top of pts getting belligerent because they want a different answer when there is none.

And trust me healthcare workers are some of the biggest sheep you'll ever meet, including doctors. I guess in the end people just pick a side and stick to it no matter what. It shouldn't be that way though.

Yeah i read the replies and wondered if they all forgot to read this line from post #1.

***" First off, I don't care if someone is vaxxed or not. Adults should make their own decision and parents should make the decision for their own kids. And no one should be forced."****

Then you went on to describe this 1 dude and how difficult he was, no more no less; but people read things now ,not at face value, but with bias.

People are strange: they are constantly anxious over whether or not someone has been experimentally jabbed, but on a major matter like weighing 300 pounds, they hardly seem to notice.

So only your opinion matters is the jist of your story. Do you have any explanation why YOU experts kill so many people a year with malpractice..?

i still find it funny people like OP are getting on their high-horse and shaming someone for making their own choices in spite of a virus being released in to the world by China, and OP makes absofukkinglutely no mention of them, who are 1000000000% to blame for this world wide chit show.

this is literally biological warfare perpetrated by China and ***g0ts like OP wanna stand on their soap box with an i told you so mentality.

this dude is just trying to live because he was poisoned.

Do you use the FLCC protocol for hospitalized patients or do you just wait so you can slap a vent on them and collect your 30k?

Don't even need to be that old or outwardly unhealthy, my half brother-in-law spent something crazy like 11 weeks on ECMO in Texas with a chunk of that being in a medically-induced coma. Dude is maybe late 40s and not obese

The OP is dumb as fukk.
Making fun of the guy because he knows being put on a vent is a death sentence.

Brb next sentence "so we put him on a vent and now he's a potatoe hurr durr".

Strong "doctor". Fukking POS.

OP referred to a patient who subscribed to conspiracy theories. Why do you think he was referring to you?
