So my close friend makes six figures trading stock options and has been throwing money at penny stocks, but has yet to hit big. His sentiment though is that the profiting opportunity in the market was much greater in general during 2020-2021. IIRC he said because the S&P or Nasdaq just kept climbing. Don't quote me tho.
Are the prospects with penny stocks less promising than the lockdown period? Is there a system/skillset you can make to compensate?

Congrats OP. Srs. Glad to see regular people taking advantage of this economy and making some big money.
That said, keep in mind the last 2 years have been a money printer for anyone with some balls, a few K, and a 3 digit IQ.
If you want to keep that 100k and grow it, the skill will be to slow down, observe, and learn market fundamentals.
There are a lot of young people that flipped a few K in this economy into good money. Just know that you did it not because you're some financial genius but because your timing was lucky. 90% of winning in life is position, being at the right place at the right time. The last 10% is skill developed over time. That is hard to learn in the economy/world we live in now.
Best of luck and congrats on your returns. Ded fkn srs. I hope you keep and grow them.

Of course nobody knew that the OTC market was going to be on fire on a level of that magnitude, including myself. I put $3,050 dollars in my account in mid November 2020 and literally YOLO'd the entire balance into one single stock, SNDL. I believe I was in at an average of 33 cents. I ended selling somewhere close to just under a dollar which netted me enough capital to be able to play other runners at the time and make exponential gains. It was valleys and peaks though, it wasn't straight up - meaning I'd hold certain stocks for weeks, if not months at a time. I took my profits, sent most of it to the bank and held the rest in my portfolio and then that would go up, rinse and repeat. I've taken losses of hundreds of dollars, some thousand dollar losses too. But for the most part my success rate was high. Call it pure luck, call it timing of the market, whatever. So my close friend makes six figures trading stock options and has been throwing money at penny stocks, but has yet to hit big. What worked for me and what still has been working for me in some capacity, is simply trying to spot short term catalysts for "penny stock" companies under the radar on social media. Yes it sounds simple, yes it sounds like a ****ty plan that probably wouldn't work long term. But for the past year and a half it has worked for me. Specifically companies that are pending merger/acquisition news. IFXY and SNRY are examples of some big gainers for me last year in the fall before they dumped hard - and let me make it clear that they all inevitably dump hard. A big reason for that is that penny stock promoters will use their massive following to promote ****ty stocks (nothing new), but this was amplified during those times - so you'd see insane gains of 500%-1000% happening every week. They'd last a day, sometimes a few days and rarely a week+, then the dump would be equally as bad leaving bagholders all over. That's the obvious risk with penny stocks. It takes some luck and timing. I would go through random Twitter tickers for hours and hours at a time, try to find tickers in sub pennies with little volume and upcoming catalysts such as merger rumors, "quarterly reports", 10k's, 10q's, new incoming CEOs, anything that would create hype, and try to get in BEFORE the promoters began pumping. I'd pick companies that are active on their social media platform and keep their shareholders informed because I noticed those were the ones that people would pay the most attention to. Regardless of how ****ty the company was or how much revenue they made, none of that sht mattered short term because 99% of the companies that trade that low are sht anyway. During that specific small time frame, all it took was hype behind a catalyst to move a stock and you being one of the first ones in line before the hype train started.
Right now, the OTC markets are nothing close to what they were at that time. Volume is low all around and you'd be pressed to see a 100%+ gainer these days. It happened recently with ELEK going like 300%+, which was nice for those that were in it. Not only NASDAQ and S&P, but if you go back to 2020 this was around the time that bitcoin boomed to an all time high of 60k+ as well. Everything was super inflated. Whether the same type of market conditions will occur again in the future due to some unforeseen event, nobody knows. I hope so, but I wouldn't count on it. The market conditions at the time were ripe because of the massive sell off that occurred months before that year. So toward the end of the year in 2020, the overall market recovered immensely. That type of volatility was obviously due to COVID.
Now that I have more capital to play with, I might try my hand at day trading more well known stocks with bigger trading volume on the daily by scalping them, as well as putting aside some money for the riskier penny trades. That's my own personal plan (and not financial advice).
Didn't know a single thing about stocks, YOLO'd the last 3000 bucks in my bank account (literally) into a stock called SNDL end of 2020 and turned it into 10k within a few weeks, then began obsessing over social media all day everyday to learn the market sentiment at the time and to research very low cap stocks (trading for sub pennies) that were about to gain momentum before people knew about them. Figured out within a few weeks that finding catalysts early, no matter how ****ty the stock, was the single most important factor for making gains since social media and promoters mainly pushed ****ty stocks with very near term catalysts. I recognized this and took my gains before they inevitably dumped with a high success rate. Obviously the more capital I made, the easier it got to flip larger amounts. Although most of my trades were much smaller gainers, with some being large. Biggest single gain i've made was flipping $10,000 into $35,000 on one stock.
Made 100s of trades cant post them all but these are some examples of some good gainers:

[img]https://i.postimg.cc/prLhSwRv/IMG-1e.png[/im]
[img]https://i.postimg.cc/XNsy5YkY/IMG-3e.png[/ig]
etc etc, some of it was luck, some of it was coincidental timing of prime market conditions for OTC market, some of it was pure dedication (12+ hours a day researching for atleast 6 months straight, yes unemployed)
And yes, taxes are going to suck this year for me
Will you rope after you lose half to taxes and then half to an inevitable market collapse?

Out of the 11 sectors, which top 3 did most trades happen in?
ps: too all the skeptics, yes turning 3k into 100 can be done during a mania market (2020- 2021 was perfect) and if you don't follow the 1-3% rule, and just throw your profits into the next play, compounding each time, 100k is very realistic.

I missed HUGE on a ticker called OCGN, bought around 15,000 shares at 28 cents around early December? Sold almost immediately at break even but it legit went to 18 dollars. Company made covid vaccines in india I believe or were about to (clinical trials).....big oof for missing out on that paycheck but you cant win them all. If I had to pick a third hot sector at the time i'd say energy for sure ala Tesla but I remember that went downhill very quickly after the freeze situation in Texas and that sector took a hit for awhile early 2021Out of the 11 sectors, which top 3 did most trades happen in?
