i refuse to remember The Rock outside of his wrestling career in the 90s and his iconic phrases

overrated? no. mediocre? yes. the reason i say this is because i don't know a single person who considers the rock an A list actor. he's an A list celebrity for sure so he's making bank and he leads all these movies of course, no doubt about that. he's got a good persona (maybe not IRL, who knows) and does well in those generic action movies because of his size and stature, but his acting chops aren't very good or diverse. he almost never acts, he just plays the rock in every scene. he'll carry summer blockbusters and whatnot and he might be more well paid than the best actors, but no he's not overrated because he brings in money for his films and most people know he's just an action based actor who is paid to look cool as **** and be ripped, nobody is going to put him up there with denzel or daniel day lewis or something for his acting chops. could he play more diverse roles? maybe, but he'd probably be asked to lose his size and change the persona he's built over his adult life and if he's already making bank why would he care? he comes off a bit fake to me, but who gives a **** what i think.

If we go by his success I guess he's overrated because he's mediocre but one of the highest paid
